I have lost count of the times
where I have seen your face
out of the corner of my eye
but I can’t bring myself
to turn around because I know
that I am seeing what I want to see
and nothing more.

The Reason

Why do I write poems? Is it for expression? Is it for attention? For a girl?

Do I write out of a sense of obligation? Boredom? Pain?

Is there some ulterior motive? Something sinister and obscure?

Or is it that I just want to be accepted?

The reason why is always changing.

Do we watch **** because we are vile and perverted? Or maybe we just want to feel good? Feel something. Anything.

The reason why is not important. It is inconsequential. Trite.

Reasoning defies action, and action defines your character.

So who are you? Are you my reason, reader? Are you the reason that defies my action? Are you the reason I have no character? The reason I fear?

Or maybe,

The reason I’m here?

And so now it comes to pass
Seventeen times around the sun
Seventeen winters and seventeen springs
A symbol of hope and wonderful things

I notice people connect with simple poems
Like the simplest of feelings expressed in poems

Not the complicated vocabulary type of poems
Or the overly tragic/happy poems

Just the simplest words written in poems
Are the most memorable type of poems

i want to sound like you
so self-assured on this hazy morning
the way you use your words as i
stumble through apologies

and your hand
brushes my knee
— and all at once
i am so aware of my own breathing

i took a rest here because i couldn't sleep
but you could talk to me all day

and

if i promise not to say a word
will you stay here?
butter-voiced lullabies
guarded by apathetic tendencies
sipping from a world's best mug

lay with me and ask me
what i see in the clouds
my eyes are closed, and i paint you
a picture of us dancing up there
but when i awake you are gone
leaving me with a daisy chain
and a back ache

and maybe this is why i stay up
at least i know when you're going

there were no clouds in the sky today
i'm sorry i couldn't pay attention
maybe the sky is too bright for me
to feel like i belong

but my bed is the void of space
and it is too big for me now
it's lonely to think we're the only
intelligent life out here

but

i feel so alone, we just might be.

i feel so alone, we just might be.
i feel so alone, we just might be.
Sometimes people come into your life

and you know right away that they were meant to be there,

to serve some sort of purpose, teach you a lesson,

or to help you figure out who you are or who you want to become.

You never know who these people may be.  Possibly your roommate or neighbour,

professor or long lost friend, lover, or even a complete stranger.

but when you lock eyes with them,  you know at that very moment

they will affect your life in some profound way.

And sometimes things happen to you

that may seem horrible, painful, and unfair at first,

but in reflection you find that without overcoming those obstacles

you would have never realized your potential, strength, willpower, or heart.

Everything happens for a reason.

Nothing happens by chance or by means of good luck.

Illness, injury, love, lost moments of true greatness,

and sheer stupidity all occur to test the limits of your soul.

Without these small tests, whatever they may be,

life would be like a smoothly paved, straight, flat road to nowhere.

It would be safe and comfortable,

but dull and utterly pointless.

The people you meet who affect your life,

and the success and downfalls you experience,

help to create who you

are and who you become.

Even the bad experiences can be learned from.

In fact, they are probably the most poignant and important ones.

If someone hurts you, betrays you, or breaks your heart forgive them,

for they have helped you learn about trust and the importance of being cautious to when you open your heart.

If someone loves you,

love them back unconditionally,

Not only because they love you, but because in a way,

they are teaching you to love and how to open your heart and eyes to things.

Make every day count.

Appreciate every moment and take from those moments

everything that you possibly can

for you may never be able to experience it again.

Talk to people that you have never talked to before,

and actually listen.

Walk the footsteps of a stranger

and you’ll learn things you never know.

Let yourself fall in love, break free,

and set your sights high.

Hold your head up because

you have every right to.

Tell yourself you are a great individual

and believe in yourself,

for if you don’t believe in yourself,

it will be hard for others to believe in you.

You can make of your life anything you wish.

Create your own life and then go out and live it with absolutely no regrets.

Empty garden and fallen roses. Only one is standing. She is bright and white. She breathes in and looks around her. Her world has ended, her world is no more as winter is here. So tears fall down her beautiful white skin, softly, quietly.
She closes her eyes and breathes out. Is it the end? "No", her mother had said. It's only the beginning. "Worry not, you'll be born again. Don't be weary and hopeless, it'll start again".
So she closes her eyes, and she is no more. Gone like the other ones.

And I look at her go, eagerly, fearful, wondering whether her ethereal beauty would be back.

I went back there during spring and there she was. Even more beautiful than the first day I saw her. So I became hopeful, eager for better and brighter tomorrows. Tomorrows filled with happy fragments and you.
