A subtle crease no bigger than the heart of a fly,
Dipped in a well of hesitance,
A thought
An idea
A moment
Due to the fear and reticence,

A subtle crease no bigger than the heart of a fly,
Dipped in a well of blood,
A thought
An idea
An action
Disguised in the form of love,

A subtle crease no bigger than the heart of a fly,
Dipped in the well of blood,
A child,
A family,
A home,
Written in the name of...

i.

Distance isn’t fun,
Standing alone in heaven,
Hoping you will come.

ii.

Tragedy has struck,
Pain, shock and embarrassment,
It ends here tonight.

iii.

Sister it is I,
The brother whom you deny,
Hope you are alright.

iv.

I love you mother,
Your son is a big boy now,
I didn’t make it.

I dreamed of war in a time of peace,
Made love to monsters,
In the belly of the beast,
Changed the drapes and cleared the sheets,

Moved the sofa
Turned down the heat,
Brought him blankets,
Made him eat,
Saw beauty in the eye of the beast,

Drawn to light,
So I let the devil speak,
Brought me pain so unique,
Paid my dues,
I’d never leave,

Celestial matter
that was me
Who fell in love with the beast

Curious, compassionate, caring,
Each adjective described,

Happy, humble, humorous,
Each adjective a little more inspired,

Beautiful, bubbly, brilliant,
Everyone would write,

Sad, sorrowful, stagnant,
They all would’ve lied,

Torment, torture, twinge,
They all would have tried,

Oh Delilah, Delilah,
Sweet poor Delilah,

If only they loved you then, as they do now,
If only they became your friend, as they do now,
If only they held your head, when you drowned,

Oh Delilah, Delilah
Sweet poor Delilah

How nice they have become,
How sweet have they sung,

Delilah they loved you
With barbwire tongues,
Delilah they loved you
Like sour milk, bread crumbs

Delilah you’re silence,
Delilah you’re lonely,
Delilah you’re sad,
Delilah you’re distant,

But
Delilah you’re truth,
Delilah you’re fact,
Delilah you’re cause,
Delilah you’re honesty,

But
Delilah it’s sad,
Delilah they only loved you because now you’re...

See this isn’t a poem,
I wager you that,
See this isn’t a poem,
The rhythm it lacks,

There isn’t a home,
For my head to collapse,
There isn’t a home,
So little in fact,

The sounds of their Guns,
The sounds of their Tanks,
The sounds of the young,
The sounds of the camp,

The sounds of our stomach near
Mid-Afternoon,
The sounds of despair, bitter and
Blue,
We hold on to hope,
Our Bowl and our Spoon

— The End —
