And again I spoke to her at
11pm.

And again, told her of my worries about
love.

And again she just replied "Go to sleep,
everything matters less in the
morning"

But was that not the very thing I feared the most?

And again, I didn't sleep.

I never slept

Never

Where are my t-shirts?
Lucy wearing them to bed
Life has changed again.
It starts all over again with grand daughter Lucy 5. She does look cute.

It was a hot summer day
And as we brushed pass eachother
I couldn't help but think
I wish he were mine
That way I could show you off
Tell the world I'm in love
Tell everyone I found the one

And that day you approach me
With all kinds of silly things
We exchanged numbers
And what a fool was I
Because I wasn't ready for love
Turns out love isn't as
Kind, Loving, and Gentle
As I thought it would be

She spreads her yellow wings
To sun and sky an offering
Gold nectar dew she brings
To Ruby-throat a'humming
Sweet song of waning spring
And lily in the morning.

Dreams of Helen

Alone in his dark apartment
black dog asleep
the sound of children playing
in the street outside his window-
children of color, his housekeeper says,
not quite seeing the distinction
only hearing happy voices-
an old jazz number on the radio
as he stands and dances slowly
with his cane tap, tap, tapping
to the beat and dreaming of a girl
he once read about named Helen
in a book of braille.

I miss you more than the sun and the rainbow,
I miss you more as this hurt and pain grows,
I wish to be with you, right now
But sadly, I got to wait a while

I miss you more than the festive season,
I miss someone and you're the reason,
I can't wait to see your smile,
But sadly I got to wait a while,

I know that you're reading this right now
And I hope you're wearing a big smile
Even though this poem may not be perfect
Understand it's my first attempt

As the tears roll down my cheeks
I'm in this mood and it is so bleak
I know these rhymes don't make sense
But my thoughts right now are quite dense

I'll improve on my romantic rhymes
Even though I don't make a dime
But that doesn't matter
What matters is
You and I
The first poem I ever wrote

I've seen more people
smile at seven in the
morning,
than I ever have
at night.
Apparently all the
happy people have
day jobs.

The guy who works
at Speedway,
bought my coffee
this morning.

What a wonderful way
to start off a Friday.

Now I'm even smiling.

self-portrait of inertia

muted colors of being

flowers in heart's vase

light from obscurity
