Thunderstorm
Zane Stotts May 2015
Feel
the raindrops roll down your face,
wrapping you in their liquid embrace.
See
the blinding lightning
the dark clouds, brightening.
Taste
the crisp water pouring from the sky
the rain, leaving nothing dry.
Hear
the roaring thunder,
filling you with wonder.
Know
that after this,
the thirsty earth will return to bliss.
Feel. See. Taste. Hear. Know.

People And Promises
Zane Stotts Jun 2015
People lie.
Promises are spoken.
People die.
Promises are broken.

Headache
Zane Stotts May 2015
Bump, bump
in my skull.
Causing me to slump
while listening to the dull
thump, thump.*
Pressure building in my head,
threatening to break.
these things, I always dread.
This is why it’s called a headache.
I had a headache. So I wrote this.

Your Beautiful Smile
Zane Stotts May 2015
I need to see your beautiful smile every day.
To cheer me up when skies are gray.
It destroys all dismay.
Keeps me from going astray.
I will always see the glass filled up halfway.
The embodiment of beauty, you portray.
You are the potter, I am your clay.
When I see your smile on any day.
Smile. You don't need a reason to.

Love Comes With A Price
Zane Stotts May 2015
Love comes with a price,
not everything is free.
You toss the dice,
but not without a fee.
One must give,
the other must take.
One may live,
the other may break.
The dice represents chance. When someone "rolls the dice" in a relationship with somebody else, they're taking a big chance.

Summer
Zane Stotts May 2015
The blazing, burning heat.
The sun, turning the world dry.
The bliss of spring is complete.
The ground, waits for the clouds to cry.

Why Pi?
Zane Stotts May 2015
Why do we commemorate Pi?
You may want to know why
we hold this number up so high.
Three point one four
never ceasing,
there is always more.
Pi is a very special number
that's why we have Pi Day
if we didn't celebrate it,
it might fade away!
The ratio between circumference and diameter
we find it in things everyday.
If we did not have Pi
everything would change.
Our world would go awry
and mathematics turn strange.
So, lets be glad
for our circle constant
that makes this world not so bad.
I wrote this for a math-poetry competition and won!

Autumn
Zane Stotts May 2015
The leaves turning yellow, orange, red,
falling to the ground.
Upcoming winter is to dread.
Leaves, falling all around.

Drowning In A Dream
Zane Stotts May 2015
Swimming against the stream.
The waters have a malicious gleam.
I let out a frustrated scream.
As I am pulled downstream.
But then I wake up and realize, it was just a dream.
I wanted to write a poem about water for some reason. This was what popped into my head.

Thrown Under The Bus
Zane Stotts May 2015
Heart shattered like a pane of glass,
the pieces lying there in the grass.
On me, you turned,
by you, I was spurned.
My trust in you, chopped down,
It feels like I drown
in your treason,
I don’t even know your reason
of why you did this to me.
I’m like an amputee,
who lost his half of himself,
how do you live with yourself?
You were the one who caused this
giant abyss
between us.
You threw me under the bus.
Betrayal is raw.

The Trees
Zane Stotts May 2015
Have you ever stopped to look at the trees?
How they lightly sway in the gentle breeze?
The icicles on their leaves when they freeze?
Standing strong, even in the high seas?
Then, you would wish that we weren't brought to our knees
with such amazing ease.
You would wish to be more like the trees.
Stand firm.

Winter
Zane Stotts May 2015
The crushing, crisp, cold air.
Everything covered in a layer of snow.
The snowflakes caught in your hair.
The world shining in a white glow.

Spring
Zane Stotts May 2015
The hot, humid sun,
the new freshness of the world.
Winter is done,
flowers, becoming unfurled.

I Will Still Love You
Zane Stotts May 2015
I will still love you tomorrow,
all throughout the sorrow,
and all the pain you've caused me,
bowing over like a tree,
in your violent storm,
searching for something warm.
Do you like my storm analogy?

Fire
Zane Stotts May 2015
Orange, crackling tongues flick,
Trying to find something to lick.
To find something to burn,
to find something to turn
into ashes.
Its heat, creating gashes
in the earth,
causing dearth
in this place,
that was once full of grace,
but is now being blazed,
being razed.
A destructive sort of poem.

I'm Just A Sad Guy
Zane Stotts May 2015
I’m just a sad guy,
with tears in his eyes.
I’m just a forlorn guy,
no longer spry.
I’m just a miserable guy,
all I do is cry.
I’m just a sorrowful guy,
I sit here and sigh.
I’m just a hopeless guy,
on his way to die.
I’m just a sad guy,
saying his final goodbye.
This is kind of depressing.

Who Do You Think You Are?
Zane Stotts May 2015
Who do you think you are to judge my ways?
Who do you think you are to judge the way I spend my days?
I will always be me,
you cannot change that.
I will always be free,
you cannot hold me back.
So, get on with your life,
stop trying to control mine,
and together, we’ll end this strife.
There was a time when my parents were pressuring me with certain things. I guess I wrote this around that time.

Each Second
Zane Stotts May 2015
Each second, you can’t get back.
Your life getting more slack.
Time seems to speed up.
It’s like your cup
appears halfway dry.
You’re so down, you don’t even want to try
to fulfill your life.
You live in strife.
Slowly, sluggishly slipping away,
as you count off each day.
The deadly disease
brings you to your knees.
You plead for a little more time,
please, just a little more….
But you’re already at death’s door.
About someone struggling with a terminal disease.

The Stars
Zane Stotts May 2015
The stars that shine so bright
make me wonder where you are tonight.
When you abandoned me
I realized just how cruel this world can be.
I am still here, missing you,
my little world, thrown askew,
wishing you would come back,
the night sky, suddenly looking so black.
So I lay here,
and wipe away my tears.
I heard this really sad and depressing song about loss, so this poem was inspired by that song.

When Will You Come?
Zane Stotts May 2015
Oh, when will you come?
I have been waiting for you a while.
Oh, when will you ever come?
I can’t wait to see your smile.
This was for a school project. Came up with it really fast, so don't hate it because its not the best quality.

Some Days
Zane Stotts May 2015
Sometimes days are bad,
and you just feel sad.
Sometimes days are bright,
and everything feels right.
We should be glad for each one
And look forward to the rising of the sun.
This was one of the very first poems I wrote. Just came to me out of nowhere

— The End —
