The Equalist! RE: The guerrilla girl’s poster 5% women artists yet 85% of the models are female. This poster was heralded as a feminist rebuff of misogyny and the male gaze. It is my opinion: one of the reasons females are more sexualised than males in Western society; is because the majority of women working in a sexualised industry such as modelling, dancing, fashion or *********** choose to perpetuate that role and the connection between *** and femininity; often in industries where females outnumber the men six to one; I'm also aware that the majority of the hierarchy in theses industries are male, it seems their gender solidarity is more concerned with the money; than notions of ****** inequality; thus perpetuating the issue. Vernacular test: Step one - Question one: I took a survey of 30 fellow artists asking what is a misandry? followed by what is your gender? Step two - Question two: I took a survey of 30 fellow artists asking what is a misogyny? followed by what is your gender? I did offer any information or allow any of the subjects to see the survey paper, or overhear the question. Results: 30 subjects took part in the survey; One female knew both words and their meaning, and one female didn't know what Misogyny was. (Two females approached refused to take part in the survey, all men approached engaged.) Step three - Question three: I then gave all the subjects the dictionary definition and asked why they thought the vernacular misandry is not as well known as the word misogyny? (I should add that I too couldn't recall the vernacular meaning of: Misandry; though I could recall the meaning or definition of Misogyny.) Answers: Female... "I don't care" Female... "It's due to a gender economic imbalance" Female..."Blokes just don't like it when women speak out about it" Female..."I don't get involved in protests" Female..."I don't know" Female..."Men just think with their ****** Female... "There's more misogynists" Female... "Because men are pigs" Female... "Why does it mater" Female... "It's just a word" Female... "I'm not interested" Female..."Try being a women" Female... " It's ******** it's just a vernacular" Female..."You wouldn't understand your a man" The other 5 Females... chose to offer no explanation. Answers: Male..."I don't know" Male... "who cares" Male... "Yeh that's interesting" Male... Why does it matter" Male... "Let me think about it" Male... "Who gives a **** Male... "What's this about" Male... "Can I see the results later" The other 2 males... Chose to offer no explanation. I personally identify as human; and don't wish to be defined, labeled or marginalised; I also don’t believe that secularism in any measure is healthy or meaningful in an inclusive society. I question why 29 out of 30 subjects had heard of Misogyny; and just one person had heard of Misandry. Sexism is not as the dictionary suggested prejudice, stereotyping, or discrimination, typically against women. Everyone is effected buy prejudice, stereotyping, or discrimination. The subtleties of which is played out every day.

Certain men may be pigs, and maybe some feminists take it a bit far, but when it comes to sexism, I certainly don't think it's restricted to *** and when it comes to racism: there's no such thing as race. Far too many **** Sapiens are just ******* vapid and odious when it comes to their personality, in general. It doesn't matter if the narrative is One's *** or religion, politics, perceived gender, art, science, the weather or any other elite form of edified philosophy. I want to believe that everyone has merit- that they cannot be judged by any external entity that, because it is external, lacks the whole context. Still, some people spoil my attitude towards people a bit. Humans are my favorite counter-example; yet, I love us. Somehow. Jaded though I may well be, I seek foremost to be kind, but that makes you a doormat. One seems to have two choices: be a push-over, or an ******* I seek the middle path: empathic and kind, but also self-interested. ..something of a "passive-assertive" person. Returning to the point: I'm just an equalist, I guess. Egalitarian. Individualist. Sexism? Racism? Nationalism? Why the **** is it even an issue? Haven't we grown up at all in the last 10,000 years? If someone's skin color, chromosomal composition, language, wealth, ethnicity, or where on Earth they happened to be born is that big of an issue to you psychologically and socially, there are much bigger problems going unchecked boiling over within you. The abandoned kettle whistles. Good luck. Earnestly. We're all counting on you. People are people. Worry about yourself and what and who you love.

I couldn't tell you how many poems I've read about girls in disguises, girls hiding in their closets, girls acting like girls, wishing they were something more... This is not a poem about wishing, but a poem of being. This is not a cry for help, but a song of assurance. I am a girl, but I am no feminist. You won't find me painting on makeup each morning for confident clarity. {red blemishes flourish} You won't find me tearing my feet up each night to look tall and fancy. {bruises on the heel} You won't find me wearing a red push-up bra for emotional support. {endless back pain} You won't find me shaking while holding a gun for protection. {fear is stupidity} I couldn't tell you how many girls I've seen doing these things, over and over; girls wishing they were something more... This is not a poem about hope, but a form of being. This is not a scream of pity, but an equalist view. I am a girl, but I am no feminist. I choose to be myself, despite the boys who call me odd; despite the girls with envious eyes. I choose to play video games at 2am and eat until I feel sick. I choose to wear band tees to the bar and go home alone. I choose to say what I mean and suffer the consequences. I choose to wear less clothes, and sometimes more, when I want. I've found someone who loves me for who I am. I've found two people, in fact. There is a boy who comes over and I can call him my love; I can call him my best friend. There is a boy who never judges the boy in me; the things I do. There is a boy who reminds me a lot of a girl, who picked flowers with her mom when she was little. And sometimes, I put on makeup for you, because I love you, and I want you to know I'm proud. Sometimes, I'm proud of myself, because I got the eye liner just right. And sometimes, I like acting fragile so I can do less work and watch as you tire in sweat. Sometimes, I even shout my worries to the sky. But moderation is so important in a time so rigid with lust. There is a girl who is me, and that boy and that girl both know who I am. I am sick of complaints; I am sick of the 1950's attitude; I am sick of excuses; I want to see action; and I don't mean a protest. And maybe you like being a girl. Maybe you dress up purely for yourself, and no one else. But that doesn't explain the things that you say in public and in retrospect, as tears fall down your cheek, and knives glide off your tongue. I see more of it every day -- girls just like me. You are only weak if you believe that you are. You are only a girl if you think that you are. I am a human being, and so are you. I am no feminist.

A Girl, but No Feminist

I'm not. My Dad thinks I should be out burning bras showing off unshaved legs parading through the streets "like the gays." I do not. I remember talking in highscool about my imaginary rich husband, and never working again. My Dad does not. He remembers panicking in hischool telling me not to be a cheerleader asking "why can't girls play on he football team?" My Dad does not realize, I don't want to burn my Victoria's Secret push up bra, I want to shave my legs. My dad thinks the only person who can decide whether or not to keep a baby is a woman. I do not. A baby-life is created by a man and a woman. It should take a man and a woman to decide. My Dad does not realize it, He thinks I am a product of the patriarchy, a victim to the crime. but, I don't want to march down the streets of Boston, **** Because I know some women, cry **** when its a lie. I know some men, who cant cry for help, because **** is a woman's issue. My Dad does not realize it hurts, because I am not a feminist, I am an equalist. I believe in mutual respect, choice, balance. Stay at home moms and Stay at home dads. My dad does not realize it hurts the cause to be a "feminist" My dad is a feminist, I am not.

I am not a damsel I am a knight I am not a Princess I am a Queen I am not a witch I am a healer I don’t need your rescue I am my own However You can still hold a door for me I appreciate manners You can still support me when I cry Everyone needs a rock You can still fight with me Opinions differ often You can treat me like a person It’s what I am The female Equalist
