"What color makes you feel the safest?"
"Green?"
"Why?"
"Because that's the color I see when I look in her eyes."

when eventually we grew so
close, so connected
that we dissolved into each other- I started to
hear your thoughts, you grew heavy with
my feelings
and we held onto [this] so tight
navigating through this little world as a single entity-
as proud as though we ourselves had invented love
But when we became one person
my darling
we no longer had separate heads to put together
to admit
to accept
we were each only realizing
half our potential.

Natalie
do not date a girl
who writes.
she will internalize
everything,
carve poems
into your eyelashes
instead of
kissing them,

she will analyze you,
calculate age
from the rings
your coffee cup
leaves
instead of refilling it.

she will memorize
the way your
lips curl around steam,
but not that you
take it
two sugars,
no cream.

she will read your
palm instead of
holding it
against her chest.

she will not
blink
when you leave,
because she is
already
romanticizing it.

Because, really, who were we to think
That you and I could trick love??
Who were we to think us smarter
Than the gods who rule above??
To think that we could outrun fate
To think we would be missed.
To ignore the warnings of those much wiser
To reach for that first kiss.
To think that we were more than stars
To think of our wisdom like jewels.
Really, who were we, my darling??
You and I were fools.

at your first swimming lesson, they teach you to breathe through your nose and let air out through your mouth to avoid swallowing water and although i listened closely, i may have missed a step because i am sick to death of wishing myself six feet underground but my love, it's not an easy feat to breathe with litres of salt water flooding your lungs

Stare at the sky and you will realise,
realise you forgot clouds move and suns shine.
They rush past while time spent is in your head.

Take a moment, to breathe, to listen,
listen to the stillness and allow it to consume you.
Allow yourself time to not think, not feel.

Its not often we appreciate the beauty of nature.

Listen to the orchestra the world sings,
sings for everyone to hear the beauty in the sounds.
Leaves falling in time to the branches groan in the wind.

Nature isn't just the outdoors,
it is everything on this planet, including you.
the sunrises upon your legs from a fall, your inner beauty singing.

*More often we need to allow out fingertips
dip into fresh streams, to feel the cool water
and take time to love ourselves as we love the beauty of our surroundings.

Love
how does one love a poet?
between the lines of their spoken words
and their haiku's.
a jumbled nonsense to an untrained ear
but a masterpiece
to the ones who take your poems
the ones they've studied
and they dissected
because they find them*  almost
as beautiful
as the way your soul shines
when you coin a poem
about the one who
coins their poems
about you.

*the delicate intertwining process of loving a poet.
I'm in love with you and all your little things.
