My conscience
That has been there
Since I was four
Making sure
That I wasn't in trouble

She is string
She holds me together
She is a storm
Starts chaos
She is a two sided coin

Long, straight brown hair
Chocolate eyes
Freckles cover her face
Extremely tall

She is string
She holds me together
She is a storm
Starts chaos
She is a two sided coin

Shy, but outgoing
Depending on who's around
Impossible to stay mad at
Makes bad choices
From time to time

She is string
She holds me together
She is a storm
Starts chaos
She is a two sided coin

Silent treatments
Loud fights
Best Friends

She is string
She holds me together
She is a storm
Starts chaos
She is a two sided coin

She is a rock
She is string
She holds things together
She calms the sea
Or starts a storm

She is string
She holds me together
She is a storm
Starts chaos
She is a two sided coin

Embarrassing moments
Weird looks
Always crazy
She gets through the bad things
Helps start the good

She is string
She holds me together
She is a storm
Starts chaos
She is a two sided coin

Puzzles, swim team
Life changing
Life calming
Starts Chaos
She is string
She holds me together
She is a storm
Starts chaos
She is a two sided coin

Two sides
Same coin
Same person
Different personalities
Quiet in public
Crazy in not

She is string
She holds me together
She is a storm
Starts chaos
She is a two sided coin

Keeps things going
She is a bank
A bank of secrets
She keeps the vault
Locked

She is string
She holds me together
She is a storm
Starts chaos
She is a two sided coin

She is like a storm
And the calm before it
Chaos and control

She is string
She holds me together
She is a storm
Starts chaos
She is a two sided coin

Listens to music
Like the rest of the world
But yet, doesn't conform
At least not completely

She is string
She holds me together
She is a storm
Starts chaos
She is a two sided coin

Easily molded
But not easily shaped
She is not always there
Yet she is

She is string
She holds me together
She is a storm
Starts chaos
She is a two sided coin

She taught me
That I
Didn't have
To be
Completely
Alone
The cards had been falling badly for
The man that they knew as Jack,
He’d entered through the scullery door
In a faded, stained old Mac,
He didn’t look like he had a buck
Til he reached into his coat,
And pulled a roll of hundreds out
That would choke a Nanny Goat.

They said he could play a hundred down
And a hundred for each raise,
It didn’t appear to faze him then,
He said, ‘Well, loser pays!’
He fooled them all with his poker face
And he bluffed at first to win,
But by the time that the clock struck eight
His roll was getting thin.

When Diamond Jim played a Royal Flush
And took his final note,
Jack stood up and he shook his head
And reached out for his coat,
‘I thought that you’d try to win it back,
You must have more to spare,
I’ll wager it all for what you’ve got
In your pocket, double dare!’

Jack then sat, and his eyes had glowed
As he scowled at Diamond Jim,
Pulled out a tarnished silver coin
And he said, ‘Well let’s begin!’
They eyed the coin on the table-top
Its head like a man with horns,
‘You can’t look now at the tails of it
Til you own it, then it’s yours.’

‘What would you say that coin is worth,
I’ve never seen its like.’
‘There isn’t enough in all the earth
To purchase it, by right,
It must be won in a game of chance
As I won it, long ago,
From a man like a Turkish Sultan that
I met in a travelling show.

Diamond Jim dealt a single hand
And he said, ‘What if I win?’
‘Then you can look at the coin’s reverse
And the chaos will begin!’
‘I think that you’d better show me now
Before we play this hand,
I’m not so sure that I want this coin
With its evil Goats Head Man.

Jack reached out and he tossed the coin
Which spun for a while up there,
As each man suddenly felt the pain
Of a deep and a dark despair,
It took forever to clatter down
And rest on the table top,
The sign of a Spider facing up,
They thought that their hearts would stop.

For up from the coin the spirits came
Of the ones that they’d loved and lost,
And all of them seemed to be in pain
As the wailing came across,
They lurched away from the table, and
They stood and they shook in fear,
‘By God, there’s Marilyn Ampersand
Who drowned in June last year.’

The walls of the room then fell away
They stood on a stony beach,
A woman was drowning out in the surf
But totally out of reach,
And Diamond Jim gave an awful cry
From the depths of his shattered soul,
‘I’d give the world as a ransom, dear,
To bring you back safe, and whole.’

Then Jack had snatched at the tarnished coin
And flipped it up on its head,
The room returned, they were standing there,
‘You can bring her back from the dead!
You only have to possess the coin
Are you willing to play the hand?’
But Jim had wiped at his fevered brow
And shook, he could barely stand.

He took his winnings, all in a roll
And he pushed them back at Jack,
‘Just take your coin and your money too
And leave, don’t ever come back!
I like my world as it is, my friend,
Though grief lies deep in the groin,
But Marilyn won’t be coming back
From the other side of the coin!’

the theory of entropy

A doctrine of inevitable social decline and degeneration.
or
A single toss of a fair coin has an entropy of one bit. A series of two fair coin tosses has an entropy of two bits. The number of fair coin tosses is its entropy in bits. This random selection between two outcomes in a sequence over time, whether the outcomes are equally probable or not, is often referred to as a Bernoulli process. The entropy of such a process is given by the binary entropy function. The entropy rate for a fair coin toss is one bit per toss. However, if the coin is not fair, then the uncertainty, and hence the entropy rate, is lower. This is because, if asked to predict the next outcome, we could choose the most frequent result and be right more often than wrong. The difference between what we know, or predict, and the information that the unfair coin toss reveals to us is less than one heads-or-tails "message",
or bit, per toss.[5]
~~~~~
**one bit per toss
one love per life
over time we entropy,
degrade our physic,
even our heart~need,
tho ever burning,
gives off less heat,
as the candle aged-consumed,
the eighth day canister of love oil,
the sole remainder,
slow level diminishes.
we keep on tossing the coin,
and with every failed love,
the need, entropies, declines,
the coin is worn down,
making tails-you-lose
the greater probability.
but then all it probably takes,
just another toss,
and bit you are
by the coin of the realm
that-once-discovered,
from her, this realm,
this woman,
you will never leave,
nor coin-toss ever again
The Coin
I have this Coin here in my pocket
That I pull out when there's a need*
If I told you it was magic
At that point would you believe
It's been passed down from generations
Hand to hand it is smooth and bright
A ceremony few have witnessed
And now the Silver Coin is mine
I don't abuse the Coins good fortune
Wishing for that which money can buy
There's so much more that is important
That the Coin's used for in life
The Coin warms in my pocket
When I get close to where I best can serve
Fulfilling the Silver Coins purpose
In a simple action or a kindly word
Is the Coin really magic
Or just a reminder to do what's right
Do you have a Coin in your pocket
That you count on like I do mine
When I am old and gray like my Father
I will pass the Coin to the next in line
So it will continue to bring  forth justice
*To those less fortunate than you and I
I flip a coin to choose for me.
For I am a poor decision maker.
It could land on heads. Or tails. You see.
That is why I flip a coin.
I flip a coin to choose which one.
For I am a poor decision maker.
A decision, I can think of none
That is why I flip a coin.
I flip a coin to choose my fate
For I am a poor decision maker.
I am in neither a good nor happy state.
That is why I flip a coin.
I have flipped a coin to choose for me.
For it has decided my end.
It landed on tails, for all to see.
And now I must meet my destiny.
That is why I flipped a coin.
Suicide is a coin flip of emotions. Don’t let your fate be decided from one wrong turn of a coin.
How alone is a coin
Thrown in a vast ocean?
In a tailspin of currents and waves
The coin has been haplessly led
Trembling and spinning restlessly
The coin sinks down to the ocean bed
Paddling its boundaries
The coin screams and yells.
But no one arrives,
No effort seems to help
Sinking deep into the dark, the coin smashes its head
On the rocky ocean bed
The coin wonders, will I rust forever or will I rise
Will I live again or will I lay here forever like dead?
How alone is a coin
Thrown in a vast ocean?
I am that coin.
Alone.
I'm stuck in a loop.
Endless similarity between days after days
Not ever seeing a glimpse of change.
Life itself is a coin
going down a spiral wishing well.
Round and round; accelerating back to it's former position over and over again
inching forward in time.
Until it may meet the end.
Yet... Something's different now.
My coin has escaped the well.
How has it eluded the innevitable?
Something must be wrong.
What's happening?
Someone sits next to me now.
I don't know them. But I like change.
Change is good, I think.
Who is this person?
Not sure I want to know.
Or do I?
She seems interesting, yet I know not should I introduce myself.
The coin rolls across the floor.
Someone sits next to me still.
I love her so much.
I've loved before... Or so I thought.
An unfathomable amount of longing fills me.
All the time I wish to be near her.
The coin stops.
Her spark gives me light.
I feel it burning.
Is this good?
Wait.
There's another coin next to mine now.
I reach for my own
When I brush someone else's hand.
A nervous smile sits on their face.
She points to something
Another coin well on the other side of the room.
I'm here now.
She's in my arms.
She reaches up to my chest
I look down at her loving eyes
She puts a coin in my pocket.
Never thought I'd be writing again.
I'm as indecisive as it gets.
I'm the two sides of the coin.
Flip that coin. You will see both sides.
Copper will break.
Clad will break.
Nickel will break.
You will hear the sound of metal swashing.
It'll be two fast for your brain to elucidate, so fast you're brain will hurt.
Your veins will hurt from the rush.
Your neurons from fury.
You will want to break the coin in a thousand pieces instead.
You will.
Then every piece will want to break in half.
I'm the two sides of every piece of metal of that coin.
When it comes to him, I'm as shattered as it gets.
Your eyes will hurt from the brightness.
When it comes to him, I'm as radiant as it gets.
I'm the blaze of a thousand piece of nickel puzzling your sight.
Add up all the radiation. your eyes will hurt.
You will be blinded.
I'm as blinded as it gets.
Clothes will want to rip themselves apart.
They will.
Skin will want to peel itself.
It will.
I'm as naked as it gets.
I'm the two sides of the coin.
Shatter that coin into a thousand piece.
Shatter each piece into a thousand world.
Shatter the world into a thousand coin.
I'm the two sides of the thousand coin of the thousand world of the thousand piece of the coin.
Ageless in time.
Motionless in space.
When it comes to him, it's as impossible as it gets.
Nobody “breaks” out of prison. Steel bars are hard enough to bend. One escapes through careful planning—months of fierce attention to detail. Until one day, when the conditions are absolutely perfect. Then, one escapes by beating the system.
One afternoon, while you are observing the doldrums of prison, someone will approach to offer you a key. “Only $5” they will say, “and this key will guarantee your escape. For it is a skeleton-key.” Now, there is an old saying that “If it’s too good to be true, then it probably is,” which is easy enough to say. But you have waited so many years in the colossal boredom and misery of prison. For $5, who knows—this key could guarantee your escape. What’s five dollars for the chance of escape? So you take the key, which turns out to be plastic, and immediately snaps in two inside the lock.
Certain lessons in life stick, and this is not one of them. If you drive up to a red light, for example, your foot will naturally reach for the breaks. But this type of lesson has little to do with emotions.
Bad days, on the other hand, will make the entire world feel hopeless and cruel. Even if yesterday had us believing in a world that is beautiful even when it’s ugly. On a bad day, there is no beauty at all.
So, beating a bad day isn’t always about coming to a solution. Sometimes, it’s about endurance.
When you’re upset, it isn’t just because things got heated with a friend, or because of failure, or an unusually cold week on your holiday leave. When you’re upset, it’s because you were put on this earth to be upset. If you need proof, walk outside and ask—you will never find a person who doesn’t know pain.
But there are two outcomes to every coin toss, and even then, it isn’t as if the other face has disappeared. It is only hidden from sight until the next time the coin is tossed. And though you may not see it, you know for certain that if you turn that coin over the opposite face will be there.
This isn’t to say that our emotions are guided by the same lottery as a coin toss. Life, I hope, is full of choice and circumstance that exceed the simplicity of chance. But it is at least fair to say that, whatever the circumstances, you will outlive pain
…eventually.
Sometimes you’ll have to endure many unlucky coin tosses. It will begin to seem as though they will all be unlucky.
But think hard—the other side is there.
Escape is coming, but you can’t break the bars. So keep your eyes open. Be patient. Every day is a new toss: no matter where the coin lands, the outcome is yours.
A short musing on how to face life and its inevitable sadness.
Hot and Cold
Light and Dark
Love and Hate
All are two sides of the same coin
Flip the coin to decide fate and the sky will weep with the tears of the Gods fears
That when the coin lands the world will fall as the hearts of men become corrupt
The coin lands and seals a mans' fate
The hot light of love, or the cold darkness of hate
Little does man know, you cannot have one half of the coin without the other
That is why the Gods cry for every man swallowed by the dark side of the coin
