If ever
I get too old to laugh
**** me

                   By Phil Roberts
Atmosphere pervades this place:
A subtle, spiritual background
So surreal.
Far from haunted manors
Or flashing disco halls.
Soundless surrounds ****** my soul
As I’m serenaded by serenity.
Peaceful plains becalmed:
Punctuated only by gently rustling trees
And the distant twittering of birds.
I cannot feel any force
Except some sublime emanation
Of peace and tranquility.
Satisfaction soothes my mood
As I make the most of these lingering moments.
So good to chill out in the snug
Of my local pub.

Paul Butters
I even surprised myself with the ending.
Paper...check
Pen...check
Have I forgotten anything
Oh yea, that little item I refer to as a brain

So I guess I best unpack this mess
From inside my cranium
Take it out and dust it off
If this job is to get done

If I could only find where I put that rhyme
Was it in pile right or in pile left
Maybe it slipped out of my head
While I slept tight last night in my bed

As I make my way from the start of this day
One thing I'm sure I'll find
Insanity I think for me will be good company
On this here poetic ride
He walked the streets a begger
they buried him like a king
he played a six string guitar
he wore no golden ring

She had the voice of angels
survived a valley called death
then fearing no evil
she passed every test

They wrote the songs with sunsets
they walked the line together
they stood in a ring of fire
in love they burned forever
Tribute to Johnny Cash and June Carter
Sung to the melody of
"Be Thou My Vision"*

O King of heaven
How Glorious Thou Art
Lord of my spirit
O Lord of my heart
You're ever gracious
You're my victory
I was in darkness
But in You I see

Father O Father
Your creation I love
You painted the sunsets
Made heaven above
I will sing praise to you
All the day long
I am your nightingale
You are my song

O gentle Savior
You're awesomely wise
Show me your people
You are my heart's eyes
Give me compassion
Your mercy to all
Give me Your voice
To lost souls I call

O Holy Spirit
Come rain on me now
Fill me with blessings
Your river to flow
Give me the wisdom
To honor what's right
Let me be salt
O let me be light

I am but ashes
My works are but rust
You've made me precious
Tho I am but dust
You are my Father
My Lover, my Friend
You are my righteousness
World without end

I wrote these lyrics based on this hymn:

"Be Thou My Vision"
Sung by Selah

I was singing to the Lord this morning and I came to this song. It moved me to tears. I had to write. I wasn't going to post today, but felt led of the Lord to write this. I hope you enjoy it.

I've dedicated this poem to Becky Ramsey for her enjoyment over Thanksgiving, Christmas and the New Year... Blessings!

Thank you and God bless!

God, are you listening? Because lately, I've been feeling distant from You. I feel like Peter when You called him to walk out on the water, yet he sank. But I feel like I'm drowning in this sea of doubt. A knotted ball of string I cannot seem to unravel. Slowly creeping deeper and deeper into this battlefield of questions in my mind. When You said "O you of little faith, why do you doubt?" I could not give You an answer. I do not know if I am turning into a skeptic or a cynic. Faith has doubts, but I feel as though I am longing for epiphanies to spark in response to my questions. Lord, are you there? Because I can't seem to listen to my own voice. Wanting to be heard, but feeling ignored. Waiting for answers, but left in silence. But I hear You even in the silence. Soft whispers echoing symphonies of love songs and truths. Thank You for loving me even when I have doubts. When I feel like I no longer have the strength to carry on, You are there. Always. Lord, take my hand, and don't leave me. Don't let go, for these hands are too weak to hold my own heart. Hold me, when I am falling. Despite my doubt, remind me of Your love for me that surpasses beyond all else. When I say amen, help me to believe it. Let my faith be louder than my questions.

Where are you going and why are you going there
What is it that’s happening, and why do you care

Why do you go, what is the purpose of your quest
Too, the mysteries of love and compassion, be blessed

Or to bear witness to a life,  that was put to death, yet forgave
While you were not there, you ran away; your life to save

By persecution and fear, your faith you spurned
yet, in the caverns of your mind, it still burned

Your servitude, put in question by your cowardice
Is rewarded only, when you realize, you are powerless

Returning there now, that you’ve been confronted
To spread the word, while being pursued and hunted

Now, why do you go, and of what do you speak
To your death Peter, for those words we all seek

Child of mine please know

All things have a season

All things have a time

If stars can fall, then crash and burn

Humans fight and fail to learn

Then time has nought to teach

The blind will never learn to see

And the deaf will fail to hear

Even mighty rivers run dry

And seas can also die

Today

my heart stopped beating

But time has taught me this...

Love is where you find it

Follow joy wherever you can

Hope can spring eternal

Fellowship remains in man
There's nothing new I'm telling you
No rear view mirror on top of your head
There is no time to look behind
But what's ahead instead

When I looked last the past is past
Where down the drain it goes
There's not a thing you can do to bring
It back, that's all she wrote

It makes no sense to dwell on it
When it is up and gone
With each new day,  yesterday fades
With the coming of the new mornings dawn

So if you should ask about the past
I'll say what's done is done
No need to look back on what has been left
Just keep on keeping on
