We were abused
In the same way
And yet you used me
I see fire in your eyes and I see comfort in your smile. I see everything that moves me,
I thought nothing would ever move me again but there you were
With beer on your jacket
I am panting admiration
But your touch is toxic
And you touched me well
You loved me
You never found yourself so you lost me.
But then i lost me
You ruined me
So vulnerable at seventeen
I have lost that weakness
Calloused and cold
Sometimes the darkness won't let go
But I am stronger now
Xanax dreams don't leave
In other bottles I find release

They're just lips,
They're just teeth.
But when she smiles...
10 word poem
Some people are born with tornadoes in their lives,
but constellations in their eyes. Other people are born with stars at their feet, but their souls are lost at sea.
I'm glad to be a rose
Filled with beauty and grace
It makes me very happy
To be on display in a vase

I come in many colors
Red, pink and yellow
I make the girls happy
When given by a fellow

I come in different shapes
In many different sizes
Some people grow me
And try to win prizes

My aroma intoxicating
So delicate and sweet
Sometimes in your bath
Other times at your feet

I'm happiest in the garden
Growing wild and free
Reaching for the sunlight
Giving pollen to the bee

Like wild oats
the lonesome poets
grow in the ditches
alongside back roads
and when it rains
they drink too much
like the low cotton
in dry fields forgotten
by dirt poor farmers
whose wives run off
with the first stranger
who wipes his shoes
on the porch before
selling her a pretty pair
of green lace underwear
like a bird sick of its tree
dreaming of new leaves.
