Free Bird
So many people are living lives that they're not in love with, && I've just never quite understood that.

How much exactly
did it cost to sell your soul?
At what point did you decide,
"this is now my life until I'm old"

The truth is we're all invincible,
until the day we're not
We've got to live our lives to the fullest,
for it's only one that we've got

To go about our days,
meandering in the mundane
Is surefire the best way,
to drive ourselves insane

We're meant to be free thinkers;
artists, writers, && musicians
Making the world a better place
should be our only aim && mission

Be kind to one another
We're all in this together
It's funny how the things that divide us
Are also the same ones that tether

Us to this forsaken planet
Feeling like we're broken
When at any given moment
Kind words can be spoken

Falling from our lips
&& lifting others' hearts
We all have the capacity to make a difference
It's just a matter of choosing to start
Today a friend of mine said to me "We are all invincible, 'til we die." This poem was inspired by that statement.

My heart pulsed
When he walked into the room,
The way it only used to do for you.

Your long black branches are broken into fine detailed pieces,
One piece followed by the other in harmonizing perfection,
Unfolding dark colossal secrets of your past.
The howling sound of your cries beckons my soul,
The scent of your cut-off roots lures me into your sanctuary,
With tears on your fragile leaves, I hear you talk
And I solemnly listen; your resonant voice pierces my ears.
I silently scream into your exuberant core,
Closing its walls upon my vulnerable body,
Choking in subsequent intervals of beat-racing time.
Your radical leaves blind my vision,
And you watch my petals wilt into thin air.
The chemicals you inject me with are dominant to my thorns,
Inducing a form of uncontrollable intolerance towards you,
And yet, I don't want to depart from your strong grip.
You're designed to break me, to degrade me from my shelter,
And to degrade yourself from affection and sentimental memories
You could rip my roots off, but your suicidal acts shall remain.
I lie in your core, distant from the raindrops that keep me breathing
Only to realize that, you've left me..
*Leafless.

Yesterday I was ******
Lost and heading nowhere
Today I'm fully conscious
Totally sober and aware
But that's alright
Cuz I skipped the fight
Name me a coward
Or mark me as a smart
You gotta make your way out
And that's the best part
Every man for himself
Oh baby; you made my day
So stand up and face my gun
Or step outta my way!

Are you a real dreamer?
Fight and run on your own
Load your gun and get ready
Stand up before the dawn
Cuz the morning is cruel
Get smart or be a fool
You're not safe; you're in a jungle
You're in a wild wild west
Be a prisoner or melt the chains
Make a big iron fist
There's a bad man coming
Smack him hard and make him dead
Rip his throat and drink his blood
Or rest a bullet through his head

don't create distance between us,
like painting oceans between the skies & lands
unreachable,
like,
branches caging you from beneath your deepest
secrets.
and no amount of rain is enough to make the
drought in my eyes leave, like all the people
we said goodbye to
at train stations & graveyards
that soon became as empty & cold as
the bottles she'd drowned her sorrows into;
setting skins on fire & smoking death into the lungs
like snow-kissed bodies whispering love songs to ghosts
oh dear Bukowski, girls like her don’t learn to
walk through fires
they are fire-lungs & burnt skies,
haunted nursery rhymes bleeding out of souls
like volcanoes & violin screams.
midnight ramblings.

my lungs are burning up for you
and you just stand there
admiring the fireworks.
Ever wonder what a real man is like? Let me tell you.

A real man cares about what goes on in your head.
All the others just care about getting you to bed.
A real man gives you a special place in his heart.
Them other guys just want you to spread your legs apart.

A true man wants to ease all of your pain.
A "player" wants you for his own gain.
A real man isn't scared for you to see his tears.
Them other boys will never tell you their fears.

(Insert rant) A sign that you've found a real man is when you are both able to share your all of your worries, anxieties, and personal cares with each other; and can do so in faith that he's not only listening, but caring.

A real man is there through thick and thin.
Other guys just want your skin.
You can look a real man deep into his eyes,
And know that he's not hiding any lies.

If you're single, are you a man that ladies find trustworthy? I hope you are, and if you're not that you change that. We men need to represent.

Want

I want back what I have lost.
To be whole once more,
To find the piece that fits.
I can't feel much;
But what I can,
Is just enough
To get up again.
The hope that tomorrow,
I'll find someone new,
To help me place the pieces;
To show me love again
