Moment of sadness
Breaches tranquil peacefulness
Ends today's beauty
//On sadness//

Oh, your memory
forever haunts my heart.
Wherever I go
you are with me.
Oh, you are the fire
within my heart
and in whatever may come
as life winds its crocked way
I know that in all the dark
eternity of space,
among the stars that shine like diamonds
in a black velvet sky
and in all the endlessness
of the eternity of time
as the Sun and moon
race across the sky
in their eternal flight
that my heart shall always
be a part of you.
Oh, love's fever
burns within my blood
and I am intoxicated by you
as with some ancient wine.
Oh, the leaves of the trees
as they sway in the soft summer wind
speak your name
and I am led astray
by the kisses of your lips
and your soft warm flesh
hot upon my skin.
And there is no power
in all the earth
or the infinite heights of heaven
or any infernal region
that can unbind my soul from you
for I am ever yours
into the far reaches of eternity
beyond all the Sun's rising
and all the Sun's setting.

for myself
the Yuba's pulse
is that of the scent of coffee
freshly brewed
lightly roasted
early in the morning
in the middle of winter

comfort in the heartbeat
of the community

soon I will drift off
like wood
strong
not seeking
simply floating in the current
rushing through the waves
becoming one with what surrounds me
always floating
nothing will drowned me

Colorado isn't so far away
that my love won't reach those who stay
I'm afraid that I can no longer steep
I'm fresh hot tea, and biscuits!
Ready to eat!

I'm taking a bite of life
to nourish my soul
this valley of grass
no longer my (w)hole!
no longer another day
wishing to move on
it's time to let go
to see a new dawn!

the horizon so bright!
the road awaits my travels
and I await my fate

another day for another friend
no such hurt that love won't mend
I find myself better when I am with myself
so here I go into the world
to feel a new river
smell a new smell
see a sight unknown without fright
no tightening in my stomach
fluttering at best

wings never at rest
sprouting from my back
fueled by my chest
the beating inside
reverberates externally
although my physical being moves
my love for this place, these people
and the land, my love will stand

eternally.

I reached the edge of town
on a hot winter day
in the year of the dog

Drove past the schoolyard
where we used to play
king of the hill there in the fog

Saw my old friend
down at the local shake
he was talkin' about my loss

Said he could tell
by the lines in my face
that I had paid a heavy cost

I said "I came here lookin' for a revolution"
He said "You're just in time"

They're building them up
in my hometown
with foundations and all

But what goes up
will burn down
all good things must fall

I'm someone else now
with someone else's dreams
my will has its own will

It's kinda like a driver without a wheel
It's kinda like a fabric without a seam

I sparked the fire
while time stood still
oh, how I'd pined to watch it blaze

Within those flames
my fears were killed
all amends were made

Rode out of town
later that night
together with the wind

I have not yet
begun to fight
I'm ready to begin

I said "I came here lookin' for a revolution"
He said "You're just in time"

I can no longer be with you;
a fact I wish were not true.
But you must be true to yourself
and not put your promise on a shelf.
For a promise made is a promise kept,
and yet still when i saw you my heart still leapt,
even though we cant be
I still wish for a you and me.
When both wish for the other and yet the universe fights back.

I've been looking without seeing
talking without listening
screaming with no sound
loving endlessly, hopelessly
I'm not proud about the
slamming in my chest,
persistent knocking.

Fear is tempting me; walk!
Go see him; Go break yourself.

Maybe one day I will learn not to love,
to give, to share, to spend, to hold on,
so quickly, so easily, so hard.
in with the old and out with the new
in with the new and out with the old
in and out with the old and new
this poem, I'm not sure how old,
feels like new!
