if you look into a person
and ask to see their soul
they may not grant you access
but if they do, you'll know

the act of being earnest
will frame the way you ask
and if you are intrusive
you'll never stand a chance

my mother often told me
don't plan the words to say
but give them to The Maker
and trust them all away

you were not born to live there
in other peoples' minds
so wake with only purpose
to see with eyes of time

let's gather up the curses
and scatter them to death

replace them with the beauty
in every single breath

in faith I find the meekness
to bring these words to life
let anyone who hears them
sleep soundly through the night
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
Please find and take heed
Words written by a poet to read
Words of feelings that flow
That come from within the soul

Some words so hard to write
Never before shown the light
Treasured words that are shared
Given by a poet now bared

One poem reading a million others
Words of sorrow or for lovers
Each poet, to find, to be inspired
Words of passion that are fired

Give every poet just that chance
Let those words come and dance
For those that come from the dark
Allow those words leave their mark

Read them and let them be seen
Understand what their words will mean
A million poets writing in the sun set
Writing with a heart we will never forget

You are my unsaid words.
I am your unfinished thoughts.

Striving together in synthesis,
To form the poetry of life.
She was bad for him.
She was his worst distraction
But he was so attracted
Simply infatuated
With her.

Months passed
With him longing for her,
He wanted to hold her
Again.

He’d wait for decades,
Just to hold her hand.
He’d wait for centuries,
Just to see her smile.
He’d wait patiently,
For eternity,
Just to call her “mine”.
Again.

He didn’t care about what was best for him.
He didn’t care about what was best for them.
All he cared about was her amazing smile,
Making the mistakes he made
So worthwhile.

But, being apart,
Made him do better in life.
He was concentrating,
Grades up, social life stable,
And was the boy his parents wanted him to be.

But inside, He was dying.
He missed her like crazy.
He wanted her,
He needed her,
It was worth giving all this up,
Just to hold her in his arms.
Again.
Her perfect, Angelic face,
He wanted to hold it close to his
And just before they kissed,
Whisper “I love you”.

He dreamt of a future together,
He picked up each piece of their magical infinity
-His fantasies
Forgetting reality,
Only wishing to grasp her hand
Which was just out of reach.

He hoped, one day,
He would capture the world
In his large hands,
Engraving it on a silver ring
As he knelt down
And asked her to marry him.

He wanted to take her
To the most beautiful cities,
Yet prove to her
There was nothing more beautiful than her
In his eyes.

He wanted to
Wrap his arms around her,
Pull her close,
Just to show that
He was never ever letting go.
Again.

He didn’t want to listen
To what people thought
Of her or him.
She was the only brightness in his life.
The only thing that made him smile.

His eyes flickered,
Landing on the magnificence
That was the love of his life.
But she didn’t know it yet.

He wanted to feel the sparks fly,
Once again.
Fireworks bright,
In his mind
He wanted his body to ignite,
In flames.
Just by one look,
From her to him.

And he hoped, prayed,
The feeling was reciprocal.
He wanted her in his possession,
As she had already become his obsession.

He wanted to hold her,
Kiss her, then say
“You are not an option
You are my priority,
Don’t forget that,
We’ll define eternity”
Again?

~

here our gathered shadows,
in this hallowed place,
'neath its high hewn beams,
within its vacuous space;
to these storied walls,
we add our sighs of suffering;
to these earthly halls
for you in love we bring
our ties of heart and this,
for you a proxied offering,
for you a plea for peace,
on your behalf entreat,
a prayer for hope, for rest.
as earthly labors cease,
as in the distance,
earthly mem’ry fades,
may all its toil,
its daily rage,
dispelled as vapor be,
and in its place
may love remain,
as you ever rest in peace.

for those lost from these halls,
taken from us ’fore their time
for Ernest, the Seeker, the Dreamer!
i matter the most
you said so
yourself
and yet
i matter second
when other
things concern
yourself

i understand
i know i'm not
the only thing you
think about
i'm not selfish
enough to
think i'm
your world

i have a place
at the top of your list
as long as other
things that matter
don't pop up
on your list

i have a place
and i stick
to it
i'm limited to
that place
but at least
i have it
Limited.. even though I should be the opposite

the exquisite pain
when I see you holding her
I’ll stay here
because you keep me sane

numb fingers don't burn
cold heart won't scream
what have we become
how long has it been
when you and i were in love
but now as i look back it seems
we were dawn and dusk
and maybe it was all a dream
a clock ticks by magic tricks
what is gone shall never return
keeping tears hidden in mist
there are more things to burn
