you gave into the
slow strangulation

of blood

passed from one
to the other

family is fate
seeds crack

and spread disease
one man after

another falls
look into the mirror

see the past
play the game

tag you’re it
I don’t want to sleep
the night is not

long enough

street lights are
not sunlight and

I can see in the dark

slim limbs
I walk in the quiet

wide eyes
I see your future

sharp teeth
I make you

and I pray
to no one

before I sleep
you have not a soul

to keep
In isolation, watching my favorite, a Buffy marathon on Hulu
-her full
and
longing lips

-her thighs
that bring me
deep into
a mischief
so raw
and sweet

-every
granular
part of her
tasted
like
fresh,
pure
cane sugar

-she was
unhealthy
for my heart
but,

my
throbbing
sweet tooth
no longer
heeds the
warning

-death
couldn't be,

any
sweeter
When her dander is up
It's with utmost grace
Warming the fingers and toes
Of her children

When she dips below the horizon
It's with private time in mind
Seeking the touch from a lover
To take with her to bed

And when she opens
Her eyes at the twinkle
Of ante meridiem
It's with heartbeat & blood flow
Happy to have conceived
Another day of life
Approximately 1 million dogs in the US are named as heirs
Inheriting millions after their owners pass away
Now it does seem a bit ironic
Since dogs rest in peace every day
She smelled like cigarette smoke
and *****
and Oh,
how I wished to be
the ash or the bottle
that fell
from
her
lips.
Again
I'm making this

a federal production
about

a bowl of silver
apples

and how these pewter
pieces of fruit

that if I'm not careful
can become

the cold and scary
central characters

all their own
in what is supposed to be

my  life

Beneath the mango tree
death turns slowly -
creaks the branches/
untouchable - the tears
hanging low above the ground -
slowly swinging - no more singing/
beneath the mango tree.
