Sip my wit like lemonade,
Kiss between my shoulder blades,
Concentrate,
Can you even remember my name?
Skitter, sicker, savage, sad,
Pop a pill don’t feel so bad,
You say I can do anything,
Yet you’ve never seen my eyes glow like coal,
I am Skaði and I will always be cold,
And I have broken more boys easy as shattering glass,
Cut palms and no class,
I am contagious,
My tongue is forked and poisonous,
So roll up roll up,
Watch me make everything worse,
Watch me spit and snap and talk in curse,
But don’t get too close because without any doubt,
Being near me will rot you,
Both inside and out.

I am a man,
I feel no pain,
I am a man
with nothing to gain.
I am a man,
strong in my heart,
I am a man,
who is falling apart.
I am a man,
I must carry on.
I am a man,
but this war can't be won.
I am a man,
I can not quit.
I am a man,
but I can't handle this ****.
I am a man,
I am independent,
I am a man,
without my love I lament.
I am a man,
but deep down inside,
I am a boy,
with weaknesses to hide.
It may come as a surprise but just as society expects certain truths from women, it demands them from men. Men must be strong, and determined, and responsible, and we must hide our emotions or seem weak. The truth is that men can't always live up to these expectations. What happens when the world falls out from under us? We are expected to keep our composer and hide away our depression. This poem is more or less the thoughts that race through my mind, the battle between the side of me that wants to be a "man" and the side of me that needs help sometimes.

Otherly One
Well, Hello there, Hello Poetry

Yes

Perhaps a place such as this
Where lost souls come to share
Will help me feel some comfort, sweetness, some bliss
Instead of the constant confusion, dislike, and scare

or No

Perhaps another anonymous group of dots on another screen
With people signifying, expressing, bemoaning, loving, longing
Will help me see once and for all
That this really is just no place for me, for belonging

Maybe

Alone is where I almost always am, by choice
Within me, I know things that almost no one else wants to know
Just like you do, except that you have found your voice
(And for the record, almost is one of the worst words I ever heard, and it shows)

There are 10,000 poems in me. But there is nothing new under the sun and I can just visit here and see my own pain written by strangers and it helps me feel less alone and I thank you
I don't need to be saved except from my thoughts.  Hard work is hard work and while I live here (if one can call this living) too weak to do much but survive I will read about those with the courage to pour out your souls

i will never understand you,
and you,
you will never try or attempt to
recognize my face.

People have a way of telling you to
look at the bright side,
but they are the same people,
who pushed you out in the first place.

thank you.
