Half an orange
to help me sleep
to help me not think of you
to help me shut down my brain
like a laptop that's been left on
for two weeks straight

I break an orange pill in half
tonight I hope it's all I need
to help me sleep
I toss it back
I hope it doesn't get caught
in the corners of my throat
like all the words
I cannot say out loud

I take pills
because there's not enough wine
to drown out my thinking
not enough meditation
to quiet the constant hum

I long for a day
when sleep did not escape me
the night before

the afterglow of the aftermath,
the chest pounding demanding,
tolerating-no-delay apprehension
of the transcription
of what is

the ****** heart soaring,
the lean-back exhalation,
wet eyes that only you
have secret knowledge thereof

this is why we write,
why we beings believe,
because we ask,
why

by the asking,
we grade ourselves,
both by
our words and deeds

step back and
accept the notion
that feels not wholly right,
for inherently tinged,
streaked with human pride,
that all possess,
and possessive of
our all

you are value,
by the words you have chosen,
by the only human
that can give truth to its essential
value

you poet,

Water hits the ground. You can hear a light tap, tap tap
Every last drop breaks and scatters as it hits.
It releases what is has been holding in.

Holding, holding, holding,

Until it has no choice but to let it all go
It cannot stop, must let it all go.

Go, go,go

Harder, harder, harder

Unable to maintain control anymore.
It begins to take over, cannot fight it anymore.

Go.Go.Go!

…   b   r   e   a   t   h   e.

There is no more to release.
Light again- Feel as light as nonexistence
So light and free, relaxing amongst a sky of blue.

Floating,
                      floating,
                                           floating
Sitting amongst the hustle and bustle of the concrete jungle –
I find the calm within the center of it all. An inch of green for every mile of gray makes it all that much richer. One, two, three thousand, four… zipping and moving within their own world that is a part of this collective whole. Birds surrounding soaking in the breaths of life we have both found- hello my chirping beauties, so grateful to share this sacred ground.
Echos of silence throughout the night
Sleeplessness puts up a fight
Billions of stars blanket the sky
So far away I wish I could fly
The face of the moon watching the night
Peacefulness waiting for morning light
Crickets sing their night time song
Powerful voices loud and strong
Echos of silence as I close my eyes
My imagination begins to fly
Takes me to a place no one has been
Distant lands with battles to win
Castles and unicorns in my world
Dreams since I was a little girl
Echos of silence drift away
Daylight comes to begin the day
Colors of the earth, so beautiful and serene
Reds,Blues, browns and greens
Ocean so blue and in places so clear
Standing and enjoying things from the peer
Mountain ranges that reach the sky
Some higher than helicopters fly
All types of trees blanket the earth
Seedlings planted awaiting their birth
Creatures of the earth roaming free
So many , enjoy the earths beauty
Colors of the earth, beauty so grand
Covers so much of the land
Light brown, dark brown sands of the earth
Creatures of the sands hide and give birth
Desert sands, dunes so many
Shine in the desert sun, almost like a brand new penny
Colors of the earth remain beautiful and serene
Reds, blues, browns and greens
