"have you ever been in love"

she smiled into the bottom of her empty wine glass
"i have

Do not dream too loudly
You may awaken your conscience

                                        By Phil Roberts
There is nothing here
but the haunting silence
your absence provides,
the indeterminably
long days the memory
of you offers me.

Shadows of yesterdays
cling to every surface
like the tar of black rain.
Every doubt I ever had
flows down the drains
and blocks every sink.

You are still around,
caught in the folds of
this origami universe.
Sometimes I see you,
peering out of the dark,
looking for a way home.

She waited for months
He was shy, but when he poured
He drenched her in love
Don't fall for the frivolous, my dear. It is worth not diving in too soon. Love may take its time to knock on your doors again, let it...it will be worth the wait. Just like rain to the earth. <3

the worst part about it
is that she lingers
like a sad sentence
in a car ride argument
that just
hangs in the atmosphere
until you get home.

It's early.

Quietly, I sip my coffee
listening to you talk about
your new favorite songs
and the latest movies

You pause to take a drink.

The sun rays shine
through the café window
onto the spot of your skin
that lacks pigment

Pictures cannot capture
the moment we sat
together in silence,
smiling cheerfully

On a one way
path
to martyrdom
he endlessly
causes suffering
so that he may hoard
the scars left by those
who leave him
because sometime
somewhere
somebody
gave him the idea
that the only way
to be valid
to be real
to be human
is to suffer immensely
and that the more
scars you have
the more genuine
you are
and he hopes that
one day he'll be able
to buy
his humanity
with his pain
