they tell me that we’re made of stardust,
but i don’t feel like something so glorious.

i feel like the dark side of the moon,
like the space between worlds,
like the howling void,
and the empty cascade of dying suns.

i feel like silence,
like i’m screaming with no one to hear me.

and girls born of fire;
but the ones I love best are roses.
they’re beautiful, with thorns,
and roots that reach deeper than the winter frost.

I don’t. I fight like a woman.
But thanks for the compliment.

red looks good on you my dear;
like sweat and sin upon your skin,
and things best not spoken of in polite company.

- and i your sunset queen.

tear down their thrones;
take back your crown,
with blood upon your teeth.
oh darling, change your shape;
for within you there is a wolf.
you were born to howl,
and to serenade the moon.
