Each And Every Day

I try to see the man inside
When others turn away
They all pretend that he's not there
Each and every day

I bring coffee in the mornings
To help warm his inner soul
We talk about the life he lives
How his day it will unfold

I give advice on where to go
When the weather gets to cold
Knowing that the words I say
He hears but will not hold

I check on him each morning
And make sure that he's alright
Hoping that he heard my words
Found shelter through the night

He tells me that the bottle
Is what keeps him warm inside
I know that he will not let go
Of the comfort it provides

I try to see the man inside
When others turn away
They all pretend that he's not there
Each and every day

I have a son and daughter
They're alike as oil and water
I am proud to say that I'm their dad
since their mother died last autumn
Their only goal it seems,
Is to mess around and make the other mad

My daughter needs a mother
It's a role I'm forced to fill
I really wish my wife was still around
But, I think of how she'd handle
This little girl of ours
Although I know she's six foot underground

My son, he needs some guidance
That I just can not give
Emotions aren't a strong point in my book
He really needs his mother
To help him find his way
this mother thing deserves a second look

We're a rag tag group of people
A prince, A princess and their king
We lost our shining beacon late last year
I'm learning how to do things
That I never used to know
And my daughter has now learned to open beer

I used to be a father,
Who would send them on their way
Tell them "see your mother first, and then see me"
But, now I have no option
When decisions must be made
It seems to come back down to only me

I can tell my son to do stuff
Though I have to tell him twice
He always finds a way to get it done
When I tell my little princess
Exactly what to do
She tell me "Mum, would help me out and make it fun"

I know fishing and know hunting
I can fix most any car
I know all there is to know beneath a hood
But as far as being mother
It's a skill I have to learn
I just hope I'm doing all the things I should

The other day my daughter
Said "Dad, I need a bra"
I thought, good god, there's no one I could ask
Her granny lives in England
And her nana's in the states
So I guess it falls to me to do this task

I took her out last weekend
to buy a bra, Yes ...I said bra
This was a job her mother would have loved
But, here I was...her father
Trying to avert my eyes
Which gets real hard when pushing comes to shove

She bought her bra and smiled
As we walked out of the store
She laughed at me, and I laughed back as well
We'd shared a special moment
Between a princess and her king
It's a story to my son I will not tell

We bonded as a mother
and a father and his princess
We had a day and jeez we had some fun
I'm really glad my daughter
Told me "Dad, I need a bra"
Cause I never want to hear that from my son!!

Life of a single man

Sometimes we *** in the shower
And we hardly ever make the bed
We clean ourselves with shampoo
Using the lather from our heads

At times we wear the same old socks
That we wore the day before
And dont even get us started
On how long jeans last on the floor

When the bed gets made we sleep on top
Then just straighten when we get up
And do we really need to wash the sheets
If our skin they do not touch

We drink milk from the carton
Eat fast food way to much
We have pizza pie for dinner
And eat leftovers when we get up

We want the house to look real clean
So there are rooms that we don't use
When we can write our name in dust
That's when we grab a broom

This is the life of a single man
We just do what we want to do
It is very hard for us to change
When we meet that someone new

So dont try to change us overnight
So far we have made it through
But if by chance we fall in love
We may just change for you

Compared To Many Others

Do we ever really stop and think
Of how good a life we have
Compared to many others
It's really not that bad

We go to work and say things
Like how much we hate our jobs
Complain about the hours we work
Or the time we must get up

There are many others out there
Who begin a search each day
To try to find a job like ours
That comes with decent pay

Insurance is a big thing
We take for granted till there's a need
While those without a job at all
A doctor they wont see

We eat our dinners every night
Pay our bills and go to sleep
No worries for the ones outside
Who are living in the streets

So today I will just stop and think
Of this good life that I have
Compared to many others
Its really not that bad

This was written on a challenge I gave to Mike,  on how we see a typical day.  I have already made my concession call as Mike has already posted his master poem to stop any future challenges that other poets may have...LOL. Yep I may not have won this battle but I have just inlisted all other poets to challenge you Mike..lol.   I will win the war and wear you down my friend and one day I will take the crown..This is my master plan.. crap.....I have given my master plan away. crap.

Sometimes Something Happens

Sometimes something happens
That makes you stop and think
Is this the life I planned on
Or is it just the life I need

Is this life I live a good one
Have I done enough to help
In the end when I look back
Will I be happy with myself

Sometimes something happens
Makes you take that one step back
It reminds you of what matters
Or the good life that you have

It gives a new perspective
Shows a different point of view
Creates a feeling deep inside
That somehow changes you

Sometimes something happens
That makes you change your mind
Allows for new beginnings
Let's you leave your past behind

Well today that something happened
That did all the things above
It gave me what I needed most
A new chance to fall in love

Sometimes something happens

The state of our future society is not to be blamed on our parents, or corporations, or warring nations.
The responsibility of our future lies solely on our own shoulders.
For nothing will or can be done unless every single one of us decides to change the world we live on in each waking moment.
Within myself, I hold no blame for the future, only for my past…

But I must take responsibility for both.
This is my soliloquy.

I Saw Perfect

Today I looked in
And I saw a perfect face
A smile that lit up the room
When others looked your way

There was this calm about you
As you looked around the room
Knowing just what you want
And who is right for you

You looked my way and smiled
And I wondered who you saw
Not realizing it was me
That you searched for all along

I felt this calming peace within
As your eyes peirced my soul
I saw the inner beauty
That I knew was there to hold

That perfect person in the room
Was there for all to see
For that perfect face that I saw
Was in a mirror in front of me

This poem is about finding yourself first. Seeing yourself differently and knowing that the way you see yourself, so will others. Believe that what you have to offer is what others want and others will want what you have to offer. (Wait I see a future poem in those last few words...lol)

Sing me songs
about Nascar Nation
I don't care about
your beach vacation
I want to hear
about trucks and whisky
Not when Taylor
Swift got frisky

Give me songs
that make me cry
not songs about
a cheating guy
Let me hear
about girls and guns
about going fishing
about having fun

sing me songs of old...
sing me solid gold
songs where tales were told
just sing me songs...my heart can hold.....

Give me songs
about redneck weddings
about lonely highways
and where I'm heading
I don't care
about sand and sunshine
I just need to hear
'bout the life that is  mine

Sing me songs about
Trucks and racing
I don't care about
who's book facing
Let me hear
some Charlie Daniels
going hunting
with Springer spaniels

Sing me songs
that touch my heart
songs I'll sing
when we're apart
I don't care
about fields of flowers
or about your
secret powers

sing me songs of old...
sing me solid gold
songs where tales were told
just sing me songs...my heart can hold.....

Sing me songs
like those long ago
about broken hearts
and tales of woe
Sing me songs
that i'll remember
way past december

sing me songs of old...
sing me solid gold
songs where tales were told
just sing me songs...my heart can hold.....

When things get settled
I start moving
It's the time to hit the trail
I take the chance to move along
by truck or car or rail

No ties to where I'm leaving
Where I'm headed
I don't know
But, when things start feeling settled
I know it's time for me to go

Friends, not many
Family...nope
Relationships...they don't exist
I only live on hope
I'm not around one place too long
i know the time to go
I've said goodbye so many times
I forgot how to say hello

Images of long ago
A father was not there
He'd leave when we were not around
Off to who knows where

I've seen so many broken hearts
I stopped counting at fourteen
I don't even try to know
The broken hearts I've seen

Friends, not many
Family...nope
Relationships...they don't exist
I only live on hope
I'm not around one place too long
i know the time to go
I've said goodbye so many times
I forgot how to say hello

I'm lonely, but I'm not alone
I'm by myself inside my head
I've memories of loves I've lost
got too close, so then I fled

I don't want to be a number
Just added to the list
I don't care to even try to count
The lips I've never kissed

Friends, not many
Family...nope
Relationships...they don't exist
I only live on hope
I'm not around one place too long
i know the time to go
I've said goodbye so many times
I forgot how to say hello
I've said goodbye so many times
I forgot how to say hello

The Power Of A Whisper

A whisper makes you listen
It can stop you in your tracks
Can gives words different meaning
Create memories that will last

Whispers cause new feelings
They can change a point of view
Will help to stop the anger
When someone's mad at you

A whisper gives true comfort
Allows a calming peace within
If you listen very closely
You'll hear a whisper in the wind

A whisper sometimes can be heard
From way across a room
To feel the power of a whisper
Just whisper I Love You

Whisper

I'm in a haunted place before
Many problems that easily cuts me to the core
All I know is to cry
I prison myself because I'm scared for another try.

All I've got is a massive darkness
I can't even find the door of happiness
But He truly loves me
Because two lads knocked to rescue me.

I learned that if someone locked me in the room of darkness
There's always a window to get a shade of brightness
All I have now is possivity in my life
That with His plan, I know Im safe because of His Son.
"Because two lads knocked to rescue me" Im talking about Latter Day Saints or Mormon missionaries. Yes I'm LDS.
I thank Him so much because He always extend His loving arms to everyone.
