(A Poem based on Ex.3:1-6)

I looked into the flames and I asked "Who are you?"
"I Am!"
And I cried out "Who is going to save me?"
"I Am!"
And I wept "Who is going to conquer
My slavery to sin and darkness?"
"I Am!"
And I said "Who is faithful
Even though I fail?"
"I Am!"
And then I asked "Who is the father of mercy
Who sends His son to die
That I might live?"
"I Am!"
And the bush did not burn,
and I did not die!

There's one thing now I know in life;
   My God will answer prayer.
He watches 'ore me night and day,
   my burdens for to bear!

He's willing to forgive my sin,
   if simply I will ask;
He'll heal the wounds, the broken hearts,
   and leave them in the past!

Don't worry 'bout those little things,
   just give them all to God;
He'll show you He is in control
   in ANY life we trod!

When ever feeling all alone,
   just trust in this one thing-
My God is always by your side;
   your sheltered 'neath His wing!

He's sure to let some hard times come,
   He let's us feel some pain;
He'll make our hearts more pliable,
   with heat from trial's flame!

Don't EVER get so down and out
   and think He's left your side,
Just turn and look - He's standing there,
   with arms spread open wide!

So think about this in your life,
   when Satan means you harm;
My God has got you safely wrapped-
   in comfort of His Arms!

Let's take the word "love"
  and study it close;
The most famous word
  in life I suppose!

It's taken for granted
  by most all of us;
It's said as an ending
  as we bicker and fuss!

We throw it to family
  as we walk out the door;
So misused by all-
  by rich and by poor!

We feel it has meaning,
  of used every day.
No matter how spoken,
  just a word that we say!

I pray that you see it
  before it's too late;
Love is more than a word
  to throw at your mate!

It's not just a noun
  to be casually thrown,
It's FAR more than that
  when its meaning is shown!

There's one HUGE example
  how to show others love;
It's found in My God's Word,
  from Heaven above!

God sent His Son Jesus
  to die on a tree;
He bled on Mt. Calvary,
  to set us all free!

He hung on the cross
  for our sins to erase;
To save all our souls
  from the judgment we face.

God showed us the meaning
  of love on that day:
To sacrifice wholly
  ourselves all the way!

You see, He came down,
  from Heaven above;
To show us Himself-
  true meaning of love!!

There was never a place to hide from You,
Not a thing about me was covered,
I could not succeed in lies,
But I longed for a place to rest in peace,
And so You said I could hide in You,
No other place would I be safe,
And all I hoped for was there,
Softness for a wearied head,
When I grow tired of keeping it up for all to see,
I can let it all go when I am with You

I am a grain of sand
set in the Maker's palm
Such is the length of his hand

O God, In my soul your Spirit cries out,
Abba Father, Abba Father,
I love you more than I can take,
Widen my heart for your love, O Lord,
My capacity to love is small,
I give as much as I can take,
So small,
Through me, O Lord, love them All,
I want you because you want me,
I long for your embrace,
To stay with you forever,
And look upon your face,
I cry, for my hands cannot add rooms,
To a heart already empty,
It’s All or Nothing, a little at a time
I don’t deserve the bright beams from your eyes,
And as life becomes sweeter, I increase my sighs,
I can’t stand beneath the weight, of the truth before me,
That you would rather die, than live without me.
Love, you created, perfect,
Love, you created, all the same,
No levels, strong as your arm, no place for shame,
You’ve seated me with Christ,
To hold my head up high,
In the pride and humbleness,
Of Your love,
Show me what surrounds me,
In pure and holy Light,
Remove my blurred eyes,
Extract the truth from cloying lies,
By your Word, written that I might,
Know the Truth, and what ties,
My soul to Yours.
A lie whispers in my ears,
That my hurt is deep,
Deeper than your healing,
But you promise me,
That you will finish, what you began,
What you started,
Its first glimmers can be seen,
Your beauty shining through,
Your likeness in my face,
Your love between my fingers,
Fill me Lord, with you,

Oh God, I long for you
I miss the times I felt you keenly,
Your fingers on my hand,
And your breath upon my head,
Oh God, I long for my friend
And to see you once again,
As the lover ever at my side,
I want to have all of you, to be united with you,
To enjoy the full joy of what is reflected,
In the love of a man and a woman,
We both stand here, with our hearts exposed,
Vulnerable and we’re gonna get hurt because of me,
You sacrifice yourself for me, and I still don’t understand
That you will never leave or take your love from me,
My heart is lashed to yours with everlasting cords,
They will beat as one, and mine join the glorious drumbeat of your children
The sweet taste of love, I try to ration out,
Like this precious thing must be of dwindling sum,
But though it may be little in other’s lives,
Love is the most abundant thing on earth,
And I am invited to drink, and drink, and drink
From your cup that never bites,
Oh, increase my thirst, enlarge my throat,
And my cravings for this love, Oh Lord
Help me take the gifts you give me.
That is the hardest thing for me,
To come and ask, to know I need,
Help, and love, and comfort from you,
Not just when I feel the hurt, for numb I often am,
Or ignore the pain,
I want to dance with you every night,
To stand with my head held high with the confidence,
Only the King can bring.

I can face the giant, knowing I will win,
I can face the world, baring all my sin,
For the Lord is on my side, and paid it all before,
There’s nothing that can conquer me,
He’s locked and closed that door,

I dreamed that I was given,
All I needed and more,
To go where I’ve been sent,
Out of your treasure store,

Your hands are never lacking,
When I come a-asking,
And golden straw is always there,
To make the bricks, and share.
