I   AM  THANKFUL  FOR....
                                         paw prints on the floor

                    SLOBBERY  KISSES  ON  MY  FACE
                        nose prints on my windows

dog hair on my clothes and bed sheets

                      NO  ROOM  IN  MY  BED

For there will come a day when
                       these things will be missed.

MY  SUNSHINE   DOESN'T COME  FROM  THE  SKIES

                       It comes from the love
                                                that's in my dogs eyes.

If I could turn back time
I would hit Backspace all day,
Id put on Caps Lock
and SHOUT what I say.

I'd use the whole Alphabet
To tell you hello,
Press seven Numbers
Til you picked up the phone.

I'd Tab through the comments
I didn't want to hear,
And use the Arrow Keys
To drag your body near.

I would Delete the harsh words
I didn't mean to speak,
And Insert the "I love yous"
I before couldn't leak.

I would use Ctrl to
Keep reigns over my heart,
And I would Escape lies
That tore us apart.

I'd Print out your photo
And kiss it goodnight,
Use the Calculator
To check that we were right.

I'd Paint you a picture
of us, you and me,
Then I'd hit Enter
Just so you would see.

Those are the things
I would do in my strife,
If only Backspace
worked in real life.
This is the first poem (that I have a copy of) i wrote that I actually thought was good. I was in seventh grade, twelve years old, and I wrote it for a newspaper competition. I knew it was really great but I didn't think I would beat all other applicants in the state in my age group. So you can imagine my surprise I'm sure when I DID win! That is the first time I was proud of my writing. So this one has a lot of special sentimental value. Thanks for reading.

Red Flags

We chased a feeling
not a reality

We both wanted someone
So desperately
that we found each other

Even though no part of
us
worked

Our pieces didn’t fit together
so we pressed and jammed them
until they were stuck
and stayed that way
Until
we broke

Listen to
        your  own  soul,
               too many
   people listen to the noise
             of the world
                   instead
              of themselves.

               Deep inside,
    you know what you want,
                 let no one
         decide that for you.

                      There
               comes a time
                      when
            you have to choose
                    between
            turning the page
                        and
           closing the book.

                       Don't
           be afraid of losing
                     people.
              Be  afraid of
       losing yourself  trying
                 to  please
        everyone around
                       you.
            It always seems
                 impossible
             until  it's  done.

Have you seen the depth I fell?
Do you know the truth I held?
As it vanished into the distance,
And landed with a death knell.

A Poets Love

A poets heart is like a riddle
The answers are clear but hidden
Pellucid until they are ready to be seen

When a poet falls for you
They fall for all of you
Your insecurities become their favorite parts

Beware of a poets heart
Full of emotion to drown you in their words
They pull you in and refuse to let you go

Be careful with a poets heart
They are easy to capture, hard to contain
Even easier to break and harder to replace

Don't underestimate a poet
We are the masters of charisma
Words are our vice

Never forget to treasure a poets love
Theres nothing else like it in the world
No amount of searching will give you the feeling of a poets heartfelt
"I love you"
