~

Painted in a corner

Smeared about the floor

Chants of lone forgiveness

Quiet in the war

“Deafening the sound of death”

Garden roses trampled

Broken stems abound

Wilting on the visions

Blooming losses found

“Petals of peace scattered carelessly”

Blood along the pathway

Eyes hid in the mist

Penning someone else’s name

On this lengthy list

“Alphabetical to the grave”

Standing from the shadows

Crossing battle lines

Reaching for the freedom

Voices loud can find

“Speak up children, your voices matter”

Put aside your weapons

Time has come to cease

The nation now has gathered

United prayer for peace

*“On our hands and knees we pray… send the evil far away”
I was asked to write a poetic prayer for peace by a young friend in Iraq. This is what I wrote.

Some nights,
I just feel so small...
And I don't know
what to do
with myself.

I don't know whether or not
I should laugh
or have a really good cry.

I feel like a gray area
trapped in such
a beautifully colored world.
Stuck in the middle of my emotions.

Pass me another helping of those words
With a dash of salt
This one's a little too sweet for my palate ...and
My palette of poetic phrases
That speak to my mind
and the mind and heart of those who have
the taste and thirst for more
My palette of this colourful art
Is filled with rhyme and   rhythm.
I'll chew the words and the salt with them
For poetry is sometimes misunderstood and tasteless
to some who can only hear a basal song
And  will not say that poems are as sweet as a song
BUT poems ARE as SWEET as SONGS
Melodious sounds heard by  those who love.....poetry
And what does a poet gain?
Some joy?... Some pain?
He speaks his heart.
For what does it profit a poet?
Can he be another prophet to pour yet
Another goblet of gab ?
....Reach for the stars/ ....Dream your dreams/
Even when it seems
Far-fetched and fantastic
Bottom line is
Poetry says something different to each
And whatever is heard or felt
Are thought- tentacles reaching from the nucleus of
the right- brain,
The right brain
the write brain
of the one called poet.
Think on that.

Happiness is illusive,
And it lies within the heart.
Now some hearts fill quickly, but drain quickly too,
Others take time to fill, but they keep in what they have earned.
Mine seems to be the former.
Filling from friendly words,
And emptying an hour later over the shallowest matter.

This being said it is not impossible to be happy, many people live happy lives

And I believe the key is to accept it all.
To live life with love.
To not search for what could make you happy, but rather your heart which will make you happy.
Happiness is the only quest in which the goal can be found at the beginning.

We

We who are so very frail
( almost    ----    feeble )
WE

We come forth

Out of the miserable  darkness
Into the mystic splendor of re-birth's song

••

Tentative
Afraid

Timid

Searching

For the strength to face the foe
To face the fear

To face any possibility

••

WE

Are so tired of being so tired

So tired of dying

So tired of killing

So tired of the vast excuses for the puny lies

Of greedy psychopathic monstrosities

••

We say :

HERE WE ARE !

we say this to MAN -- to GOD

&
To OURSELVES !

•     •

We will not fear REAL LOVE anymore

•           •

The Cross is trembling !

The mountains are watching
As we

Frail
Feeble
Timid

Searching

Come forth from the Darkness

To the center of Town

Where we assemble

And finally meet

I long for my soul
that travels with you
as I am with hunger
that just you can fill.
I imagine you thus, my completion
when in truth I perceive only me
in my dream my delusion of lack.
While we are intact our creation
with stories of struggle revival and pain
as we meet and remember and dance with each other
learning and playing this journey again....

Tryst
I would walk with you,
Through fire and brimstone,
Over molten rocks,
Across jagged mountain tops;

I would stand beside you,
Against infernal foes,
Arms outstretched,
To fend off their blows;

I would be there and there again,
If you asked it of me,
But you never will,
And so I never will,

*And so we'll never be.

she was like fire
on a war path,
destroying everything
in sight.

but he saw her
as the light
to his darkness;
the bright sun
that brought daylight,
the fire
that re-kindled his
long burnt out
candle wick

and he prayed she would
never leave,
fearing another
never-ending
darkness and winter

I miss you.

2. I miss you.

3. I miss you.

4. I spend two hours or maybe four wondering where you are and what exactly happened between us. I spend more time wondering about you then I do about the world.

5. I still miss you.

6. It's been over 68 days since I last saw your face, but it doesn't matter because I can still recall the way your lips felt, the way your hands touched me. I even remember the way your skin smells, I remember everything about you.

7. I read somewhere that you shouldn't beg someone to stay in your life. If they need to remove themselves allow them too. Perhaps there is more reason behind that fact than I come to justify in my own mind.

8. I think I fell in love with you.

9. I am in love with you.

10. I still miss you.

11. I still love you.

12. We were so bad for each other, but maybe love is a type of poison. One that we learn to endure.

13. All of these are messages I wish I could send you.

14. Find happiness where ever you may be.

15. I'll still love you and I'll miss you dearly.

15. I'll be waiting for you.
