all that pain
and belittlement
you served me
day and night
when no one
was looking
made the little
man within you
feel much, much,
much bigger
but now you
stand before me
weeping
with no teeth
and the big man
within me
has forgiven you.
It's an alright guise
It helped me win a prize
Pay no attention to my size
Just ask if I am wise

So quick of you to advise
Before I can apprise
You stand to watch me rise
After I have been abscised

Perhaps you will baptize
And hope to capsize
All that I chastise
And all that I cognize

This poem I comprised
Of all that you demised
All that you despised
And all that you devised

Why do you always demonize
Just to get a word in edgewise
If you truly wish to excise me
Why not just Graecize me

I Watch the moon rise
I reprise and revise
I get streetwise
And I stylize
I like rhymes!

Pale pink petals dipped in blood
surround my yellow crown
  and painstakingly painted stigmata.
A  fragile, fragrant DNA poem
  perfectly expressed.
An immaculate lily – not a failed rose.
On a recent Ignatian retreat I saw a Peruvian lily (Alstroemeria) and it made me think about what I am rather than what people would like me to be. The photo is my own and is of the lily that inspired this poem.

A dead baby
  is a baby that's died
      in anyone's language.
Not surprisingly I am thinking of the terrible things happening in Israel and Gaza. I'm also speaking from the experience of loosing a son.

I sit
dream of tigers
orange and black, white teeth
divinely devouring man flesh
and purr.
I lie
soaking Serengeti sunshine
queen of the window sill
like a lion
 sleeping.
A butterfly cinquain.

Care less, act more.
Talk less, hear more.
Spend less, give more.

Yes, less is more.

When you cease to fear death,
Nothing will ever scare you.

Start there.
Lay next to me
Don’t say a word
Touch me everywhere
Everywhere but there

I want to know you
Let me peer into your soul
Don’t ask me about myself
Anything but that

Let me share my life
With you, with my work
With my cat, and my friends
Sometimes and on weekends
Can’t I have it all?

Dreamy Night

The moonlit sky hovers
a dark and empty street
A night submerged with wonder
and stillness

In a blissful voice, the night sang
about a faraway land,
where the pastures danced
and summer was everlasting

Lustrous knights roam the land
and the goblins lurks in the shadow
Like the darkness I lay on
As my bones relish in the calm
of this wonderful night
