I walk this dusty road alone
even though you're by my side
We stroll on as the years go by
never asking why

There's got to be more to this life
than what I see ahead
And if there's not then **** it all
I might as well be dead

So when the sun comes up on me tomorrow
I'm not going to waste another day
I'm not going to live ruled by your fear and sorrow
I know there's got to be a better way

I know it's not easy
to love a man like me
I don't blame you for leaving
I'm just drinking to the way things used to be

I know I told you I'd be different
I know I told you that I'd change
If I'd just poured out the bottle
You'd still be with me today

So I gathered up my things
and I tried to move along
I wished I hadn't done
all those things that I done wrong

I should be wishing you were here
I should be writing you a song
But instead I'm sitting here all alone
Just wishing that my whiskey wasn't gone.

I love the way she dances
any time the music plays
but even when there's silence
she dances anyway

It might just be her eyes that dance
sparkling and beguiling
or it might just be her mouth this time
A half-grin, maybe smiling

Sometimes when she dances
it's with fire, unrestrained
Spinning the blaze around her
to burn the fear away

Other times she dances slow
those days that she feels safe
Sharing secrets long held close
from another time and place

I love the way she dances
any time the music plays
Slow, ablaze or silent
I love them all the same

I am her comfort
Her safe harbor and refuge when the storms batter her
I strengthen and reinforce
I polish and I smooth
After a time, back out into the world she goes
Storms are my allies

The Earth and the Moon are in perfect harmony. Each pulling on the other with perfect precision. If they dared any closer, balance would become imbalance; the Moon falling to the Earth.

But the Moon loves the Earth. Without her he would drift aimlessly in space forever without anchor; never having known her beauty and majesty. Likewise, the Earth loves the Moon. He is a constant presence as they travel through the universe. He influences her rolling tides and he is light in the darkness.

Sometimes though, when storms rage, they lose sight of each other. But they remain locked in a cosmic embrace none the less.  When the skies have calmed, the Earth has her nights brightened once again and the Moon can gaze down at the most beautiful creation ever made.

Happily and eternally they serve their purposes for each other. With no lament and no sadness; only pure love and appreciation for the larger purpose they serve in the cosmos.
