Lizzie Bevis Nov 11
Monday is here,
the week begins,
the alarm clock rings
and rudely wakes me
from my sleep.
I do not feel fair of face,
and I do not wish
to get out of bed;
But alas, the grind resumes
and the sooner we start,
the sooner we finish.

That Monday feeling…

The silver moon waltzed
Through scattered stars like diamonds
dancing through the night.

Fine china is pressed to my lips.
offering a moment of sweet bliss,
as soothing warmth envelopes me
and my troubles start to fade.

Slowly sipping my cup of tea,
I find all is as it should be,
and clarity slowly emerges
putting my mind at ease.

I enjoy this relaxing remedy,
in this comforting serenity,
with a smile and a sigh
I find Positivi-tea.

I feel English people may relate to this! 🙂🫖

I wrapped myself
in your old sweater;
it wasn't the same.
I smelt your perfume,
the scent of sweet jasmine
had turned bittersweet.
I whispered your name too,
I wanted to find comfort
in your empty arms,
but its softness is now
just a ghost of you.

I cradle your worries,
your burdens I share,
yet I carry my own,
a weight hard to bear.
Each word that I offer,
a balm for your pain,
while I swallow my tears
like a soft summer rain.

With every embrace,
I hide what I feel,
for the hardest of battles
I fight to conceal.
So if you could see me,
just for a while,
you’d find in my sorrow
the strength in my smile.

You think that I do not notice
stars in clear dark skies,
or that absent sparkle in your eyes
and the stillness of it all;
As I lay here silently all night
wondering what might be wrong
and how I can make it right?

I hear your hollow compliment,
no gilded chains will bind me, see?
Respect my strength;
Please, don’t patronise me.

When someone tells you that your poem is good, but it is a waste of time writing poetry…so rude!
Again, a venting piece, apologies!!
