I know it's so scary,
But you can find safety here.
Lay soft in sleep,
I will guard the bed.
Make a sword out of my pen,
So I can slash at the night terrors.
I'll be a warrior in the dark,
If it means you can live in the light.
If I am not to pass on the safety I was given, who am I to have it at all.
Did they call for you,
When you were low,
When you knew the dirt of ground?

No?
Then don't you dare answer in your house of gold,
They will only come to burn it down.
If success attracted them to you, it will disillusion them too.
One, two three four, five six..
Come, take a step, Christine.
My everything transfixed.
Stay, forever we'll spin.

Eight, eleven, thirteen
Wine, gunpowder, mirrors.
Love, my darling, remain!
Stay, don't leave me, stay I beg you, my light my rose my brightest everything...

Six, five four three, two one.
Pined perpetually
this monster, only
one.
Forever.
Inspired by phantom of the opera (the novel) and my personal experiences with loneliness
No water nor tea can quench an inhuman thirst.
That which one cannot have
becomes the object of obsession.
Delusional desires spiral,
the soul caves in,
and all that remains
is this lesson you were given.
"Enjoy your own company"
Is easy advice
When it isn't the only option.

"Learn to love yourself"
Is a lot easier
When you aren't the only source.

We are social creatures
But maybe there's a reason
The most successful say they're lonely.
Maybe coming to believe
Evolution has finally grown beyond
The measly confines of needing others
Is our inevitable future.

Or maybe,
Now is just a season
To be in your own company
So the next will be so much more appreciated.

     what a life
shamed for the hands I never wanted upon myself
scorned for the advantage he took
the advantage he took because I was broken
too broken to refuse
voice drowned out

because he's all I ever had
i never had him either
'you're my world' he'd say
then immediately fade away
manipulation is a bitter pill to swallow

Age always comes before wisdom
if wisdom ever comes at all
And what a pity
for the young and pretty
if wisdom’s not there for the fall
Flesh—latticed in hush,
pinions bloom along their span—
pearled ache, ascending.
