Paranoia
Kellie Gray May 2018
Sprightly and lightly it danced to your window
In the breeze which caught it
and brought it
To sweetly kiss your silken pillow.
To neatly place itself unseen
Amidst your longest deepest slumber
And carefully corrupt your dreams.

Alone in Company
Kellie Gray Nov 2018
Standing in a crowded room, Knowing everyone and no one.
A solitary individual; sense of impending doom.
I realise my connections
Are empty, shallow, false.
I see, in their eyes, small mirrors and woeful reflections.
Reflecting these emotions
And despite my inner pain,
I see; We all share mixed up notions:

That loneliness is for the alone.

Mutant
Kellie Gray May 2018
Bound by my blood.
Vampires and Vultures.
Society bleeds me.
My whole body taken.
Since birth until death.
We serve the sole purpose
Of serving itself.
Not this union or that
Can stop the beast.
It feasts on our flesh.
Our souls and sweat.
Hatred consumes
What is left of my heart.
For the World that I love
Is corrupt
Beyond help.

A Fluffy Kinda Love
Kellie Gray Nov 2018
Why do I love you
Love you so
I love your body
Head to toe
And you love me
Love me so
It shakes your body
Head to toe
Our love is mad
But so complete
I love you so
Head to feet
You love all
Who love you too
I love that most
I do, it’s true
I am your’s
You are mine
Dog and Owner
A love Devine.

Torn
Kellie Gray May 2018
A small. Soft. Sad little ball.
Turning your eyes up to meet mine,
the only movement you make.
Too frail.

Your sandpapery nose
Breathes a ghostly breath.
Your last icy kiss.
Too frail.

Little restless tail lays still,
Yearning to twitch with excitement not pain.
It’s your last day I think.
Too frail.

The vet said it’s rare.
The body that housed you
Is letting you down.
It’s too soon for this.
Too Young.

I love you so much.
My heart.
In pain.
It’s my last chance to hold you.
Sleep well.

Soul seekers

Be careful, Benevolence
Be cautious, Whimsy.
Be watchful, Romance.
Use the buttons of your heart to fasten up your soul.
Keep it sheltered,
Lest it shall be played with by brightness-coveting magpies.

The Pen
Kellie Gray Jun 2022
Sell me this pen, sell it to me.
Make me want it.
Let’s not forget though that I handed it to you.
So I know that it is just like any other.
Yet I command you perform, so perform you do.
You artfully articulate the uniqueness of this artefact.
The desirable details of its description.
Nimble, hardy fingers circle the circumference.
Deftly, you do just as you’ve been asked.
Captivated by your wit, your elegance, your candour;
The splendour of your endeavour.
So that I end up buying into the pitch and not the pen.
As I said, the pen is not special, yet, the ink is permanent.
I’ll buy it, but only from you and together we will write the future with it.

Man the Earth
Kellie Gray May 2018
Have you ever really listened
To the wind, the trees?
Heard the song of the forest
The respondents of the breeze?
The twitter, titter, chitter
Of the Happy birds that sing
A beautiful soprano
To the Symphony they bring.
I feel a creek and cracking
With my foot beat tracking
Through the forest I
Contribute to the beat
Pounding, crunching, snapping
The earth beneath my feet.
Never more alive I’ve felt
Than when amongst the woods I dwelt
With Bird and beast and song and rhyme
release my mind and lose the time
This music it reminds me
How to hear, breath, feel and see.
My senses truly heightened
My soul today is brightened.
Then a rude awakening.
An engine roars.
Tyres Screech.
Machine, man and Device.
(The New World’s most
Insidious vice)
Changed the course of life forever
I feel it now more than ever.
To my oasis I returned
A simple lesson learned
We must give ourselves
Wholly to Our Planet
We do not own it
We man it.
Kellie Gray May 2018
One night as I lay in bed ready for sleep
My mind began racing and started to creep
Down alleys of darkness and trouble assured
Anxiety fills me and henceforth it poured.
At times I was silly, I lied or was sad.
These memories are always the worst of the bad.
Sleep shan’t come my way now I’ve sent her away
Repeat sore scenarios from yesterday.
How can I shake off this torment from my mind?
During the day nothing sad can I find.
I’m happy go lucky all through the day
And at night she lays waiting to creep in and say
No sleep tonight child - for you needn’t wonder.
You have things you can’t change you must only now ponder.

Time to Say Goodbye
Kellie Gray Sep 2022
Dormi bene my dearest friend.
Your journey was long and you are weary.
Dormi bene, Nana, you deserve the rest.
I’ll watch over the flock; to them I will tend.

Fly to the horizon and do not look back.
Now is your time to see peaks and summits.
Drift away in the warmest, deepest seas,
Traverse the wildest, rockiest track.

Your body can’t hold you; your soul is free.
Your beautiful, worldly, universal soul.
Take it to be with the love you have missed.
And give him the longest hug from me.

Nessa dorma. It escapes me.
It’s easier to love you than to miss you.
For you;
I’ll learn to do both, in sweet harmony.

arrivederci alla luce del giorno
perché saremo insieme
nella notte
riuniti eternamente
nei sogni e nei bei ricordi

My love, always.
Upon the death of my dearly beloved Nan. Classical music fan, world traveller and Bird by married name.

Find The Heart
Kellie Gray Feb 2020
Find the heart amongst the thickest weeds
The gnarliest, coarsest most jagged rocks.
Find the heart and, darling, plant all it’s seeds
For its love can unlock the tightest of locks.

Find the heart amidst the choppiest seas
The sways, the depths and plunderous tide.
Find the heart and, darling, remember please
To trust in it completely and always confide.

Find the heart laying in a sweltering heat
In the most baron, deserted, deadened land.
Find the heart and, darling, feel its soft beat
Know this; there’s nothing the heart can’t withstand.

Sight Unseen
Kellie Gray Mar 22
Little words I cannot utter without heartbeat all aflutter.
Like dancing wings upon the taught skin of a drum.
He knows me with the slightest glance, by my movement and my stance.
Knows the goosebumps as they rise like feeling stars upon the skies.
When we met first I surely knew that he was I, and I him too.
Like bowing willow branches sweeping to meet their roots.
See, without words we each know exactly what we each see.
I see him, entirely. And he sees me.

There was a horseshoe as I recall
That hung over an archway on the wall
Like a worn out halo, up so high
To this day I don't know why
Its presence haunted me so completely
Memories continuously rise up to meet me
Of this home where many ghosts play
Their games were why we didn't stay
Cushions that found their way to the floor
The radio is on but it wasn't before
The day we left I don't know well
This memory one I'd rather not tell
A bomb they said was under the car
To a new place they swept us away
And again, we started again
It was always the way.
