I committed
You saw
You fell apart
You couldn't find a note
I committed
You learned at last
Of my emptiness
Leaving nothing in this world
I never wanted to exist anyway
I committed tonight
You had to fight the urge
To follow my path yourself
I am selfish
They say they say
I say they are oblivious
Have you ever lived life
Day by day
Feeling like you never belonged
In our world
Or anywhere and nowhere
Nowhere and no one
I committed tonight
I don't want to be
Your cold dead ghost
You're like a flower.
Some people will rip off your petals.
Other people will water you.
-find the right love
many tears beneath your fingers telling smiles and summer seas
honeyed voice of many singers amid the flowers I will be
burning suns amassed in oceans, lovingly I viewed the orbs
whispered words the wind had spoken in a voice as soft as yours
as wanton flow of childish daydream or lovers quarrels come to pass
the time among all life is fleeting for none of this was built to last
from blinding light to utter blackness cloak me tightly in you soil
though many mourn, I'm glad to pass this time of sorrow, place of toil
Hello, sun in my face.
Hello, you who make the morning
and spread it over the fields
and into the faces of the tulips
and the nodding morning glories,
and into the windows of, even, the
miserable and crotchety -

best preacher that ever was,
dear star, that just happens
to be where you are in the universe
to keep us from ever-darkness,
to ease us with warm touching,
to hold us in the great hands of light -
good morning, good morning, good morning,

Watch, now, how I start the day
in happiness, in kindness.
Hello and Good Morning!
: )
In my humble opinion, everything Mary Oliver has ever written is profound.  This is one of my favorites.

"to ease us with warm touching,
to hold us in the great hands of light"
Seriously?  So, so good!

Why didn't you stay and fight?
Why didn't you try harder?
I hope you fall into the ocean,

or fall to me instead.
