Deep Blue Eyes
She fell in love
With his deep blue eyes
Surrendered her heart
Gave him her sighs

Forgave all his faults
Stood by him each day
Whenever times got hard
She took those troubles away

He loved her with eternal bliss
Envisioned her within his mind
She always opened his eyes
Even though he was blind

289: Spirit In The Mist
The young man took a short cut home
Deciding he would go across the moor
Even though a mist covered the land
He was sure that he could find his way

He was returning from seeing his lady
Declaring his love to her for all time
But he knew he could not stay the night
So faced taking a long walk to his abode

Suddenly he could see a young woman
Dressed only in a white night gown
Standing alone on the moor, in the mist
He started to approach her, to offer his coat

He froze as he could see the mist through her
And he could hear her calling out to her lost love
She did not seem to know the young man was there
Transfixed by her beauty and listening to her words

"Johnny, I await for thee to return back to me"
"This war has taken ye so here I will stay"
"I will never leave until I see your face again"
"My heart loves thee, and it forever will"

The young woman slowly began to fade from sight
As the mist faded away, so did she fade with it
The young man found himself hurrying home
Never forgetting the sad voice of the spirit in the mist

Never One Tear
The child was only sixteen months old
She had been here for two weeks
Another hospital patient of the Burns Unit
From a home that treated her only neglect
But this little girl never cried a tear

Cigarettes had been used on her little body
For when she cried, they would stub them out
Leaving horrible welts, all over, terrible burns
Both parents used the excuse of being drug addicts
Now this little girl never cried a tear

The nurses have given her a teddy bear
It would always be there in her crib
And the little girl never spoke one word
But they knew that she loved this cuddly toy
Still this little girl never cried a tear

One night a nurse on duty came to visit
The nurse had seen the teddy bear on the floor
This little girl had been too scared to make one sound
And the nurse saw the tears running down her little face
With that little girl, the nurse also cried those tears

I wonder what did happen to that little girl
Did she still grow up to have a good life
A poor small child, another innocent of abuse
But still there are millions like her, out there
Little children that never cry a tear

Me
Me
They said,  "you're not a poet"
"You don't write about love"
"About beauty and harmony"
"You should write with a quality of light"

I replied, "what about the pain"
"The torment within the soul"
"The expression to feel rejected"
"For l see light through darkness"

They said, "You have no meter"
"Your words lack any rhyme"
"You should write with rhythm"
"That is what poetry is about"

I replied, "I am a reflection"
"I can not be anything else"
"My words come from my mind"
"For my poetry is about.......me"

42: Shallow Can Be The Soul
Shallow can be the soul

For it comes for every man

The heart break that he will find

When he thought everything was right

Only to now be proved to be wrong

And you will have to forget the past

Maybe the heart can still grow

And you can find the light again

To come and ignite your inner self

To learn to forgive and to forget

To let go feelings of desolation

And find feelings of atonement

To forgive others, first forgive yourself

There is always two sides to every story

We can live in our inner judgement

And sometimes the punishment benefits the crime

For sometimes we must move on, because ;

Shallow can be the soul

Fat Rat
Somewhere there lives in my flat

A creature with a very long tail

It is a silly old big fat rat

That can only run as fast as a snail

He is so clumsy as he sneaks

Wobbling along across the mat

He makes me laugh when he squeaks

Because he is ever so fat

And one day he got stuck in my shoe

All I saw was his tail in the air

He just did not know what to do

Now I wonder if he is still there

Medals
He fought for his country

Fought for all to be free

Now a forgotten son

Of a war long done

He saw so many friends die

In forgotten graves they lie

People do not seem to care

With the medals he has to wear

Each medal is a lost soul in battle

Where you heard the bullets rattle

Each medal belonged to a hero of war

For freedom they were fighting for

They gave us their blood and sweat

The enemy they always met

To give this land to be free

Soldiers for all of us to see

Black, white, American, British, Asian - one and all

Side by side, together they would fall

No matter where they came from, they fought to be true

They died to keep us safe, they died for me and you

Yonder
Yonder flies the solitary bat
Entwining with darkened wings
Like a twilight Prince in the night sky

This little creature flies away home
To hide from the advancing morning light
Forever blind to the madness of man

Yonder the little mouse is peaking out
Twitching its nose at the wide outside
Then to venture across the grass

Searching to find a scrap of food
To grab up and run back into safety
Away from the envious eyes of man

Yonder a jackdaw perches up high
Hidden within the branches of the Oak
Watching like a sentry that is looking out

Waiting to spy what it comes to desire
Then swooping down to capture its prey
Flying away once more from the terror of man

Yonder the small child plays with joy
Seeing the pleasure that belongs to his world
Delight is showing at the wonders all around

Running through the buttercups and dandelions
Soon he will have to leave this all behind
His innocense taken away when he becomes a man

293: Tell A Story
Take a seat, come heed me
Each of you hush, do feel free
Listen to stories of times gone by
Learn of heroes who fought so strong

As they battled against countless foes

Striking out, with mighty blows
Titans united, we must never forget
Of valiant people, the very best yet
Risking their lives, way back then
Yesterday warriors, likes we never see again

250: No One
A stranger visited the Earth,
This is what he saw.

No one could love, love was gone.

No one believed, it wasn't allowed.

No one sought peace, there was only their way.

No one could think, it was done for us.

No one would change, they needed permission.

No one cared, because no one would dare.

The stranger decided to confront those in power,
They lobotomised him to become a no one.

Heartbreak Circus
Like the clowns we laughed at life
We would joke about the day
But we forgot that just like a clown
The make up is removed by tears

In my life, I would brave the high wire
If I fell you would be my safety net
But now alone, I will walk the tightrope
Putting on a brave face, my net is gone

We were acrobats when we made our love
We flew through the air, catching each other
But now when I attempt to take that leap
I can see that that space you had is empty

I am the ringmaster now of my destiny
Sitting here all alone in this heartbreak circus
But this circus is closed now, it can never open
Now alone I will enter the cage, and face my lions

429: Never Walk Away
Today I saw you, my son
You had tears in your eyes
Visiting me with your mother
Five years old, my boy
I wanted to hold you
Then you both walked away

Now you are eleven, my son
You have grown so much
Visiting me on your own
Telling me how you missed me
How you wished I was there
Then you turned and walked away

Sixteen and almost a man
I am so proud of you
You want to be just like me
But you promise to always stay
My love is there for you, my son
Then you turned and walked away

Twenty and in your uniform
You joined the army, my son
A soldier as I used to be
Soon you will have to go
You promise you will always return
A rose on my grave, and never walk away

Sacrifices To Be Made
The near future.......

A secret meeting of the highest ranking officials had been in crisis talks. It consisted of Government Leaders, Defence Ministers, Health Ministers, Top Public Officials and many others.

"Well, we are all in agreement of what our only course of action can be" spoke an important looking grey haired man who sat at the head of the table.

All those that sat around the table, nodded their heads. Not one dared to speak.

"With people now living longer and a possibility of food shortage and other resources we have all agreed today that a percentage of the elderly are to be sacrificed for the better good of the country" The grey haired man said.

He then continued, "They will die in our many hospitals where it will look like they have had a cardiac arrest and could not be saved....but our wealthy elderly in private care will not be expendable and will have the best of care".

Everyone nodded in continued silence, for it would be an official government secret, kept from a general public that could never understand political thinking.

I Am Nothing
Lazy dreams of far away night
Amorous embraces by candle light
Tango desires of bodies of two
For I am nothing without you

Memories fade of the past
We believed it would last
But now, what can I do
For I am nothing without you

Lovers come and lovers go
You're the one I got to know
All the good times we went through
Now I am nothing without you

Don't Take Your Love Away
I saw the diamond birds
Flying in the midnight clouds
Before falling into crystal seas
Swallowed up by demon waters

But it's all just pretending
Of having to face reality
Standing alone with insecurity
Slapped in the face by indecision

I'm begging you, I'm on my knees
My lady, don't take your love away

Once again the dragons came
Breathing fire across distant lands
Looking for somewhere to belong
A creature that time long forgot

It's just another metaphor of me
Once again I'm lost in myself
A broken mirror image, cracked
I'm nothing if I'm without you

I'm begging you, I'm on my knees
My lady, don't take your love away

06 packets of dog biscuits
05 unwanted parking tickets

457: Afraid Of Darkness
As night silently creeps
For the world still sleeps
Relaxing for some other day
And nightmare comes this way
Installing fear within the mind
Dread is a rope used to bind

Only darkness makes it call
Fixing terror for one and all

Distilling horrors yet to unfold
A cold sweat will now take hold
Ready to open up the gates of Hell
Kindred demons released by a spell
Now cast by unearthly creatures
Every one with ghastly features
So dream on and you will never see
Strange beasts that are not meant to be

518: This Man
This man will protect you
When you need him most
Make you feel safer
And always be there

Sometimes he will cry with you
Shed tears with your pain
Hold you when you need comfort
And give you feelings of security

But this man has many sides
A burning passion in his heart
He has a hunger to be fed
He is a victim of his lust

Sometimes he says the wrong things
Misunderstands some of the signs
When a woman only needs to be held
Forgive him if he is blind to desire

For a woman is a creature of beauty
That all men are driven to want
We can not stop wanting to love you
We can not stop this need for you

A woman is a delicate flower to care for
And we need to help it bloom, to cherish
Not only to be lost in the sweet scent
But to always to allow it to grow

This man knows sometimes he is wrong
All he wants is to be needed, to be desired
To feel wanted, to know he is loved
The grace of any woman, makes any man

The Smiling Man
There was a smiling man
Who would cry inside
So no one saw his sadness
Because he always said hello

He seemed a cheerful soul
Looked happy in his way
But his tears he'd hide
Behind a secret mask

He saw too much pain
Fought with people who died
Buried his best friend
From that war he heard them

They said we're always here
Walking there besides you
Even though you cry for us
Please remember us and smile

When you least expect it
Knocking on your door
Begging you to let it in

Rise your spirits once more
Give you hope in yourself

Maybe you won't believe
But a part of you needs to
Able to feel those emotions
As part of a soul, belonging

Just as love will cry with you
For it is a feeling like no other

Fantasy Land
Let me take you by the hand

Somewhere to be free

Far away to a fantasy land

And live out the fantasy

Can you hear the fairy song

And watch the pixies fly

The beauty of the majestic unicorn

Multi coloured birds in the sky

Elves having a ball

Seeing beautiful flowers grow

Bathing within the waterfall

Chasing after the rainbow

But it is time to go away

From this World you want to be

And we can visit another day

In our dreams we see

I gave her warm wine and flowers,
and she gave me her hand,
and she led me down into
the promised land.

She gave me skin so soft
that felt of the purest silk.
A touch that was tender,
she tasted of honey and milk.

She was my heaven on earth
with such warm copper skin.
Was I just dreamin'?
Was this all a sin?

She is the girl
The girl in my dreams
She keeps me alive
The girl in my dreams

We've kissed once or twice,
subliminally silenced the screams,
but while I'm combing her hair,
she just rocks and she sings...

She sang, give me your life
And I will give you my soul
Give me all of your love
And I will grant you your goal

So, I gave her my life,
then to me it occurs
that she's jumped back in my mind
and there she laid down hers.

I gave her warm wine and flowers,

Birth Of A New Dawn
Through the birth of a new dawn
The new dew on the lawn
The first birds song
And night is now gone
For the day begins as new
I am here thinking of you

As an early Summer rain falls
Somewhere a rooster calls
And as this morning begins
For whatever this day brings
The memory of you will stay
A memory never to fade away

I stand here naked in this new day
The rain washes the night away
The birth of a new dawn is born
Fading away stars that shone
This day is born in all its' grace
A beautiful day as beautiful as your face

Oh how fools can pity me
For they can not know
Of into which sadness I flee
Of those dark shadows I go

If they dare, sought me out
They know not what they find
From the terror of midnights' shout
Buried forever within insanitys' mind

I will take to the grave my sorrow
Even in Death I am never free
Condemned to rot in somewhere hollow
Where the fools can pity me

When those storm clouds are gathering
As the rain prepares to lash down
The lightening flashes in the sky
Like an angry God throwing thunderbolts
I see a hidden beauty within this world

I see the rivers flowing gently across the great divide
Misty shades of faded grey arising way up high
All the world is aglow with God's lighted bolts
Everything is beautiful once again inside my heart
Peace is found no matter the rain and I am have rest and hope

And even though, through shades of darkness
There are times of a thousand hidden tears
I know that hope rises high for us all
For beauty walks side by side with the beast
We must open up our eyes to embrace it

Embrace the darkness, receive the light with gladness
Knowing those hidden tears will fade away
They will be replaced with joy, forsaking sadness
Never to be forgotten but held in store
Remembered when those new storms roar

A Collaboration by Chris J Smith and Neva Flores 2010
Hush my little one
They might hear
We must be silent
Not let them find us
For they never understand

They hate who we are
Always hunting us
We try to survive
But still they come
They always do

So in the shadows
Do we now dwell
Reduced to hiding
From these mortals
We may die in thirst

I say we must rebel
For we are stronger
Shape shifters
With naught to dear
Let us rise in freedom

Remember little one
How they killed her
The way your mother
Was taken from us
When they found out

How can we fight back
They have too many weapons
Different ways to **** us
We can only use the night
But they can use the day

How can I not recall
My dearest father
The way she died
The cruelty of it all
Never feeding on them

Ripping her from our coven
Leaving us in eternal misery
Of a loss forever engraved
Yet, I can not shake
My deep thirst for revenge

I am tired my little one
Feeling my true age
For too many centuries
This was my existence
Now you must carry on

My life is slowly fading
The coldness is close
You have fed from me
So you can be strong
Goodbye my little one

My father now gone
The ultimate sacrifice
Of an undying love
For his only daughter
Lost now am I - alone

A curse once bestowed
By the dark of night
Never to return
To the day of light
Losing all I have loved

With new found strength
I now hold - I will seek
The one who cursed us
In this living nightmare
For time is now immortal

Through the silence
Of the nights calling
I shall fight, with might
Striking - taking down
The prince of the night

Crying Tears Of Blood
A man took his life
Just the other day
Left behind his wife
Then she blew herself away

A gang of racists came
Beat a man until he was dead
That poor man was not to blame
It was the prejudice eyes instead

I see this world around me now
And I am crying tears of blood
I wish it could be changed somehow
So I am no longer crying tears of blood

Addict asleep there in the road
Getting off on his highs
To the Devil, his soul is sold
You see death in his eyes

Young girl all on her own
Left home just to live in Hell
Now she feels so very alone
On a street corner, her body to sell

I see this world around me now
And I am crying tears of blood
I wish it could be changed somehow
So I am no longer crying tears of blood

Politician, corruption he always gives
Always going on holiday, somewhere sunny
In his life of luxury he always lives
He is getting rich on the public money

A soldier died in the line of duty yesterday
The ****** that shot him was never seen
His body now lies in a land so far away
His life was ended and he was only eighteen

I see this world around me now
And I am crying tears of blood
I wish it could be changed somehow
So I am no longer crying tears of blood

You picked me up
Yes, you picked me up

You gave me shelter
When life was a helter skelter
And baby, oh baby, I wish you knew
How much that I love you

You picked me up
Yes, you picked me up

I wish I could be there
To stroke your long red hair
You are so far away
I wish you could kiss my tears, today

Now I have danced the moon
And when I fell too soon
You picked me up
Yes, you picked me up

Run with me, my one love
Help me to soar high above
Kiss me within a heart beat
You make me be complete

Dance the moon
I will be with you soon

270: Four Ghosts
Four ghosts came meeting
Gave each other a greeting
Always met at this cemetry
They were all related, you see

Great grandfather fought World War One
Until that day he was shot and then gone
He died at the age of being thirty two
Never got to the change of things to do

Grandfather was who died in World War Two
Shot dead, out of the blue
He died aged only twenty one
He never got to hold his new baby son

The Grandson fell as the years past
Killed in Desert Storm, explosive blast
His poor child was raised by his Dad
The rain fell on a day so sad

Afghanistan is where the son was shot dead
A ****** put a bullet in his head
So there are four graves next to each other
They hope there will not be another

So these four ghosts meet and salute now
The only way that they could, somehow
If you listen, you hear them sing out loud
Four War Heroes that fell doing their country proud

The Imp
I awoke with a shudder
Was that the sound of thunder?

I listened, and heard a faint smash
Then it was followed by a loud crash

I knew, through the down stairs window it came
Was this a burgalar coming, all the same?

I got out of bed with a frown
And adorned my blue dressing gown

From under my bed, just near the mat
I reached, and found my cricket bat

I would have to go and brave this rogue instead
And then I would bash him on the head

Out of my bedroom I went, at a quiet pace
Then I tip toed slowly down my stair case

Praying I was not going to my doom
I reached for the door of my living room

Flung it open, and switched on the light
There was no way to prepare me for this sight

On my carpet there appeared to be a small little imp
He was swearing because he had a limp

The little thing had hurt himself, when he had fell
He hopped on one leg, and threatened me with Hell

Told me he was going to curse me with magic
But this injured little imp looked so tragic

He followed, hobbling, after me into the kitchen
Cursing that his leg was now itching

He shouted at me, ranting and raving
I asked if he wanted a cup of tea, so he started waving

He showed me his jaggered teeth in a funny smile
I handed him his cup of tea, he blew on it for a while

This poor little thing looked so very sad
As an evil imp, he really was bad

He had wanted to steal my teeth and then run away
Because that was one of those games that imps play

So I made him a splint, for his injured leg
I had made it out of a wooden peg

I picked him up and he started to glow
And all of a sudden, he fixed my broken window

I then made him some buttered toast
Because he said he liked eating that the most

He was not such a bad little imp in the end
He promised to visit again, I was his best friend

The Twilight Hour
Everything turns to ashes and dust
Love always seems to just be lust
We always look for our deepest desire
But we live life as a funeral pyre

A dark Angel is now coming
It is my turn for the summoning
Will she be taking me to Heaven or Hell?
That is a truth I am not able to tell

Because within these shadows I still walk
Where darkness dwells to always stalk
Now midnight friends come out to stare
In this twilight hour they come to share

Another Unmade Bed
He sits up from the unmade bed
Feels the chill of the night air
The sting of whisky in his head
The ten dollar ***** no longer there

Lives his life, selling from his car
Staying in one cheap motel each time
He used to think he would go far
But this job stripped him of his prime

He used to have a wife, so long ago
But he walked out on her, and his son
Thought he would be rich, he never wanted to know
Now he has only regrets for all he has done

No one has any money to buy anymore
The prices keep on getting higher
He coughs, then he spits on the floor
He wishes he could find just one buyer

As he ****** the whiskey inside of him
The ***** mirror reflects his sorry state
Wishes that he never took this job on the whim
But he can't go back, it is far too late

Packs the suitcase and it is time to go
Finding another poor town to drive to
Business might pick up, it's been too slow
If no one buys, he will drive on through

Until he stops for more cheap whiskey to drink
Until he picks up another ten dollar *****
Deeper into this life he will continue to sink
Hoping to still find the final big score

Kicking And Screaming
They called him crazy, they called him mad
He got his axe and then he got very bad
The voices were always deep in his head
Telling him to chop, make them dead

Ten dead, newspapers called him a serial killer
They made a TV movie, quite a thriller
On chat shows about him they talked
So after them all he went and stalked

And they caught him that fatal day
Just as he was throwing the actors head away
Thought filling him with drugs he would be dreaming
They still had to take him away kicking and screaming

480: Secret Confession
Can you guess
My hidden secret
Where in darkness
You will feel pain
But also pleasure
With a forbidden taboo
For nobody will know

46: Fallen Angels
Fallen Angels will fly again
Find their wings one more time
Learn to soar once again
New wings growing over time

Fallen Angels will fly free
Find their hearts are still true
Find what will be, will be
Fly high up into sky blue

Fallen Angels shall once more, rise up
Rise up and once again be seen
Show that they have taken enough
Fly over grass so green

My fallen Angel has found new wings
She is now flying up so free
With the Angels her sweet voice sings
She sings up there for me

273: Spiral Path
Solitaire is a lonely game
Playing without a name
Inside the soul is blackened
Ruined and forever darkened
Ageless thoughts of the undead
Lying twisted in an aching head

Plasma nourished, needing to drink
As deeper into nightmare, to sink
Travelling forever, in darkest dormain
Hell as a dweller of night to always remain

45: Over The Top
The young soldier was crying
And his comrade lay dying
In the trenches he bled
In these trenches he is dead

Will the big guns ever cease ?
Can both sides ever find peace ?
As bullets continue to fill the sky
How many men will still die ?

No matter who everyone blames
Generals continue with their war games
They are unwilling to stop
Sending brave men over the top

Save It For Later
Trouble came calling today
Bringing rack and ruin
Tried to push them away
But there was nothing doing

So conscience dropped by
Attempting to make it nice
Said all I had to do was try
If only took this little advice

Think of the good things
And save it for later
See what your heart brings
If you save it for later

Rain clouds gathering in the mind
The whole world is going black
I seem lost and nowhere to find
That right road going back

So the Sun wanted to shine
To melt away depressive ice
Told me everything will be fine
If only I took this little advice

Think of the good things
And save it for later
See what your heart brings
If you save it for later

317: He Loves Her
Her midnight star is burning bright

Evening song, such a beautiful sight

Love embraces with gracious heart

Oceans separate these lovers apart

Venus guides them in precious harmony

Ending with their song of sweetest symphony

She knows that time can never separate them

He sends her roses that grow from the hearts stem

Each want to give one delicate and fragile kiss

Risking true happiness from a life time of  bliss

342: Proud Diana
She watches from high above

For that son she does love

A princess on a Heavenly cloud

For her young prince she is proud

He has proposed to his lady sweet

The woman that makes his heart beat

In Heaven his mother will now sing

For he gave his love a special ring

With Heavenly wings, she jumps for joy

You can hear her say, "that's my boy"

On that royal wedding you can pray

She will be there in spirit that day

281: Mystery Man
From out of the corner of her eyes
She can see him standing there
But when she turns to look at him
He is gone as if he never existed

She can feel him holding her from behind
His arms wrapped around her with love
She smiles and she quickly turns around
He is never there when she needs him most

At night she can feel him with her in her bed
But they only seem to make love in her dreams
She wants this man and knows he is somewhere
She will keep looking to find her mystery man

509: Paradise
Pink sun sets on a hidden beach
An orange glow just out of reach
Rainbows ending in vibrant tomorrow
As purple birds, flying to follow
Dolphins sing in golden crested seas
Inner being growing higher than trees
So many visions that are coming true
Each one is paradise next to you

Lie To Me
If you do not love me

Then lie to me, baby

If you do not need me

Then lie to me, lady

To be without your touch

When I need you so much

Not to feel your kiss on my lips

Or the sensation of your finger tips

What would I ever do

If I was then without you

If you were ever to go away

Do not tell me that day

So if you did not want me

Then lie to me, baby

If you did not desire me

Then lie to me, lady
