Along the lake,
her feet danced
in the ripples
of the wake.
Along the waves
crashing against
her little legs.
The joy she craves.
Along the lake
she splashes
and enjoys the
memories she'll make.

The path is unknown.
Her heart thumps heavily
as she feels she's on her own
and the road is not levelly.
A curve is bound ahead
unanswered questions twister
as her head feels like lead
and her feet begin to blister.
This journey has had ups and downs.
She wants the downs to be over.

Changing colors
scattering with the others.
All golden, red, and green
fat, wide, flat, and lean.
Jumping with glee
and spreading them all free.
Cold winds blow strands of hair
and face feels the chilly flare.
