Sindi Kafazi
To come from the line of a man who tamed the snakes
Gazed into the fire
And breathed life into wombs of women
Dying to be the shell
Broke down plants till they became medicine
Healed the hands he touched,

And what am I but a vessel of his life,
A broken one?
His blood must have ran right through me
Like the monotony of a lecture
In one ear and out the other

My visuals are out to get me,
Drive in front and claim the safety.
Pull a map and divise a route,
To keep me from my- too loud. too loud.
You take the wheel,
I'll fake a path.
The road divides us
From future and past.
I wanna drive back,
until then i will roam.
the seats of tanned memories,
remind me of home-
All feedback is welcome and appreciated

I sang
The words
Of
Silence

I sang
The words
Of
Pain

I sang
The words
Of
Damnation

I sang
The words
That I
Meant

I remember these words
Vibrating
Inside my throat
Clawing outward

I remember these words
Burns on my arms
Branding me
With names and numbers

Words that soothe
Yet still
Ache

I sang
The words
That
Blind you
