Dark, Dark Days

Dark, Dark Days

Death, death will come to pass,
They tell us to believe the elite,
So called masters in defeat,
Leave the people without to eat,
But line pockets of those in high seat.

Life, life is not just ours,
She claims the earth, seas and sky,
No longer seasons go awry,
Natural world scuffles by,
Leaving man alone to lie.

Time, time they say can heal
The lives of some already gone.
Like dogs removed from a bone,
The need to return, not left alone,
To die in pain with trauma drone.

Light, Light is breaking through
The whines of leaders unending crap
The people live, laugh and clap,
Escaping from the viral trap,
To feel life’s transient slap

Dark, dark days waiting on a dawn
When light appears, When the fear is gone,
Where people dance and people sing,
No longer scared of unknown things,
When crowds appear and bells ring.
Written during covid 19 pandemic.
At work.

Take Hope, sweet charity,
The future is yours,
As a system fails.
Imputed, incessant boors
will serve the secure,
In halls of failure,
for a presuming crowd.

Have Faith, sweet charity,
The past has revealed,
Leaving wrongs unchecked,
Will result in steel
witches, untested
In skills vital,
To help destitute survive.

Charity, and Hope,
Rely on the Faith,
Of the populace.
Over the greed of the few,
within adorned palaces
of inherited right,
to make reparation.

This earth that we walk upon
borrowed from another’s future
so fragile and we can’t go on
turning it into a sewer.

Take the land and treat it well
Let it thrive and flourish,
Hope not for the tolling bell
a signal, as the last perish

The seed of life cannot be burned
It’s something we must relish
Its in our hands to save this world
It should be theirs to cherish

Lay your sweetness on my land
A thing we must do now
Keep the grass from becoming sand
for the future we will plough

You learn to reap what you have sown,
Just as the old song says
so nurture and treat and care for the growth
ensure generations care

Trapped

Pressure building inside my head,
My eyes feel the pulse and eyelids lead,
I don’t want to be here with no one around,
Under a blanket of lonely, don’t want to be found.

The fear is real, the shock obtuse
My thoughts intrusive without real use.
Inside my brain no place for a man,
No driving forward, of the past, no fan.

I try to see good, in all and everyone,
The bad sneaks back, by getting put down,
I can’t do right for doing wrong,
But I keep trying, as I have for so long

Don’t look for sympathy, it can’t be found
Within the circle of love there is only bland
Agreement of everything, anything to keep
this piece of my world from falling asleep.

The Parting
Aduain Jul 2019
He Feels;
Sail away, my love,
To where the sea meets the sun,
Although we have parted,
The day will come

When together we meet,
After time absolute,
Makes the parts again whole,
The dress and the suit.

Your life was my own
Our joy it has passed,
But the light still shines on
And the love it still lasts.

She says:
Take care my sweet partner
Your life is to lead,
Don’t mourn me to long
As you must proceed

To take care of our loved ones,
family and friends,
Through life’s ups and downs,
Its potholes and bends.

Look for the good!
Make sure to have fun!
Do not be afraid!
To love another one.

The recognition:
I will not forget you,
Of which I am sure,
But I have another life,
For which to prepare.
So, I look forward with hope,
I’ll leave you to rest,
I learned to love with you
For that, I am blessed…

Protecting

When the sky is black with storms
There is a place for you with me,
When the sea is rough and cold
a haven, safe, to be.

When the road is long and rutted,
I’m a smooth tarred motorway
To ease you along the path
to where you long to stay

When the journey’s never ending
I’m the firelight from home
When the anger’s overwhelming
I’m the calm before the storm

When the wind is strongest
Uprooting all around
I’m the steadfast oak
Stolid, rooted, Sound.

When the rain is pelting
Soaking all around
I will be the shelter,
your spirit will not drown.

I know that you can’t see it,
But I’ll always have your back,
I’m here with you forever
to guard you from the flack.

Tree and lights,
Shop window sights,
Frost and chill,
The presents bill!

Wrapping up gifts,
blizzard in drifts,
snow and gritters,
chintz and glitter.

Anticipation,
pupil dilation,
paper in shreds,
curiosity fed.

Turkey and trimmings,
mulled drinks brimming,
family and friends,
latest toy trends.

Hat and scarf,
children’s laugh,
snowman’s nose,
frozen toes.

Christmas Telly,
big full belly,
children tired,
the roaring log fire.

Offspring to bed,
all cosy and fed,
deepest sleep,
Not a sound, not a peep.

Snowflake falling,
Relatives calling,
Music and dance,
Lost in a trance.

The Festive season,
Always good reason,
To meet up and blether,
Whatever the weather

Playing to the heartbeat
Tub thumping Drumbeat
Overwhelming Synth wave
Channelling the Bass slave
Guitar jams, room shaking
Screaming voices, larynx aching

Cello in the background
Violins make mellow sound
The Snare an unholy snap
A Tambourine a mighty slap
The Cymbals crash
A Tom Tom smash
Chord change impending
Middle eight unending

Digital and analogue
Recording in its final slog
Final verse is looming
With the Bass Drum booming
The soloist’s precision
Fulfils the final vision

Faded Light
Aduain Nov 2018
I look for you in the faded light
Mist obscures a soul so bright,
Lost in words that give no peace,
The melody, I fear will cease.
Smile, that time is not so near,
So lets go have another beer!
The laughter will endure the dark,
The glow will make the features stark

We can last forever, it seems,
Walking on the narrow beams,
of life in HD technicolour,
a cruel assessment of a dying pallor.
Of course, this will all come to pass,
And we will celebrate the holy mass,
With music, alcohol and song
And everything that seems so wrong.

To keep the memories alive,
The feelings that we keep inside,
must eventually be let go,
into the river of life’s flow.
Come now, and take my hand!
At the river bank, where we will stand,
smile warmly at those who pass,
and embrace this life of love at last.

The song goes on and never fades,
The lively tunes strange cadence plays,
And keeps the sun above us strong,
To warm our skin the summer long.
The long cold winter will come soon,
With coats and scarves we’ll be festooned,
But in our hearts warm with desire,
We’ll rest nearby our passions fire.

A deep and healthy sleep will help,
The mothers last milk for the whelp,
That feeds with only food in mind,
Eventually, being left behind,
To meet head on life’s expectation,
to declare love as its last oration.
For this we can only be thankful,
And to that thought, lets light a candle.

100 Years Futile

Generals and Admirals,
making the decisions
On squaddies lives and welfare
Creating the divisions
These combat explanations
The dictionary assigns
The following descriptions
Only the words benign.

A fight between armed forces,
Or, Take action to reduce;
The need for family losses?
Or more souls abuse?
Down among the soldiers
Is there anything more obtuse?
Stood by an adolescent shoulder,
Death in hands to use.

Brigadiers and Field Marshalls creed,
Battles must be won!
With no time for a private’s need
Or their families at home.
One day, with waiting over
Lovers may return,
Some that is, the others
Died in Hades, so listen, learn!

They died, and in their passing
Our freedom they allowed
Take heed, do not stop asking
Be heard and scream out loud,
To those we must make listen
To historical loud spoor
where fields of blood still glisten,
Please! Let peace endure….
