I once rode a dream
in a mind made wheel of red light
it took me where I imagined
a rooftop on the corner of my block
or a moon of Jupiter
where I watched the Earth being born
and then die
all in the span of one dream
history known and unknown
I witnessed
those whose lives I read and cried for
and those who garnered no words
those who passed in battle for glory
and those who withered unbeknownst
those who spoke to millions
and those millions
who left in silence
will I remember?
within this dream I asked
to whatever power
whatever being
allowed this
and with that I awoke
to bright Sun
and the laughter of my daughter
'Wake up daddy...wake up
will you remember what?'
perhaps just a dream
perhaps more
but hear me now
seven years have passed
and not a day have I forgotten
not a day
have I not cherished
oldie
When the yellow day coppers to dusk
I paint my weary eyes dreams.

They nudely wade the crabhole muds
for marks of the great marksman
climb up the chunks going into tides
tiptoe through the needle roots
sniff a wind that smells of stripes
thrilled
death if comes
would be a momentary stir
a dangling cloth
resting on the trail of blood, marking,
someone ventured.
Tiger trail, Sunderban, February 24-25, 2018
.
I thought of you the other day,
saw your face and kindly laughed.
Remembering how we used to play,
and cried at the times now passed.

The clock ticks, and tocks.
But strangely with no sound.
There is a timely silence,
now that you are not around.
My heart aches and cries,
but strangely without a tear.
There is a brutal loneliness,
now that you are not here.

Do you ever think of me,
see my face and kindly smile?
Lose yourself in my memory,
and linger on the thought awhile?

My desire for you is gone,
Like the blazing red sun at dawn.
It was there for a fleeting moment,
But now sadly everything’s done.
A ruba'i.
