Time of Year
Maxine Dec 2018
Its come to that time of year
When we want to be with those
Those whom we hold dear

For some it is a time of sadness
For some a time of joy
But for most it is a time of madness

For as we approach Christmas time
May all our hearts be filled with love
Because by the end we wont have a dime

From my house to yours my dear
I wish you a merry Christmas
And a very happy new year.

Change
Maxine Nov 2018
As a tear rolled down my eye
I stopped to look around
For I had to say goodbye

This was the life I'd known
These were the boarders of my life
These four walls were what I called home

I'm starting a new chapter in my book
Going on a new adventure in life
No matter whats behind me, I musnt look

It doesn't do well to dwell on the past
Because even if we do look back
Our future is coming, and its coming fast.

While there was love, laughter, and sometimes anger
I hope that you'll never in my life be a stranger.

The Kind Of Girl
Maxine Oct 2018
I’ve never been the kind of girl
Who knew just what to say
But then I met you
On that shining day

You help me break my walls
You made them come down
Now I know I love you
And you needn’t make a sound

You’ll be there for me
Like I will for you
And no matter what happens
I know we’ll get through

When there are tears in my eyes
Your there to wipe them away
Whether through rain or shine
Or even on our toughest days

You are the song that’s on my mind
You are the rhyme that makes me smile
And for your smile my dear
I would walk a thousand miles

I know I have trouble talking
About just how I feel
But I love you my dear
And your hearts the one I want to steal

I love you for who you are
And what you’ve help me become
And to me I couldn’t care less
About where ever you’re from

You have me no matter what
Until the last star dies you have me
Because I love you

An End
Maxine Oct 2018
The smile on your face
Gives me the solace
Like a lovers embrace
The warmth in your eyes
Gives me the strength
To help me forget the lies

The soft silk of your hair
Makes me always wish
That you could be there
Within my reach
Always so close
Never allowing a breach

But then the smile,
It turned dark and cold
It was like the cold of a tile
Only fools fall for you
And I was one of them
Because I fell too

The thought of you saddens me
And now the only thing I want
Is the power and ability to be set free

Lost
Maxine Oct 2018
you asked my name
but I could not tell you
you were looking for glory and fame
but I only sought the solace of your embrace

When you love me...
Maxine Oct 2018
When you’re here my days are bright
When you’re here I am happy
When you’re here I feel light
You are the sun that helps me grow
You are the one that makes me laugh
You are the one that makes me love
Love is warm because of you
Love is where you are
Love is where I want to be
Me, I am the one who fell
Me, I am the one who’s still navigating
Me, I am the lucky one you chose to love

You Said....
Maxine Oct 2018
You said you loved me
And I let myself believe
I thought I loved you
And that this was how it would be

You said that we’d be together
And that you’d never leave
I thought it would be forever
And we’d always have the time to breathe

But then you went and left me lonely and broken
You lied to me and let me believe
I loved and believed in every word you’d spoken
Now I’m left, broken and afraid

You said you loved me
But you only loved the idea of what could be.
This the first poem I've written in a long time.
