"hanami" poems
Awake to a slowly beating drum morning meditation drifting up the hill in the garden, tiny birds add sweet highs tuneless ravens, the bass undertone trees whisper ancient lyrics on the passing breeze. We stroll the Path of Philosophy through massive wooden gates into carefully sculpted gardens exploring the endless number of temples dotting Kyoto each more lovely than the last. Quiet Nanzen-Ji is where I feel the most following worship worn steps to a cave-shrine heady with wet and incense we are purified by waterfall spray before returning the way we came voices hushed buoyed by eternity’s hand. The hotel lobby is filled with crimson and saffron glistening heads and broad smiles from monks gathered there we bow to each other and are one may it never be forgotten revelers arrive by busload for hanami, cherry blossom viewing beneath a revered tree decked out in pink splendor lit from below to radiate surreal, internal light we sample Kobe yakitori soba and corn grilled over open flame as we flow through the smiling celebratory crowd we savor what is transitory as sparks and blossoms whirl settling on our hair and skin.

Kyoto
Tokyo adorned with a jewel named spring Beauty and Fragrance is what thou bring Sakura blossoms covering the trees Falling on me with the soft breeze Wearing a kimono under the Sakura rains Peace and love flowing through my veins A pink carpet created under my feet Sakura lovers are approaching to meet Opened palm waiting for a gift Holding a blossom which fell on so swift Lying on the carpet watching the radiant sun It’s thy happiness, the Hanami fun Viridescent leaves are nowhere to be seen Rosie colors are being so keen Chasing the Sakura aroma I love Is now falling on me from above Sakura, Thou made my crestfallen heart gone I wish to live in your scent spreading zone Spring, I fecund you through the whole year To be in the Sakura woods without a fear

Hanami
You know, I would travel with you and a bunch of people to Japan and lay next to you on a small futon that’s all ours but I gave you one petal from a blossoming cherry-tree and you asked me why I did not tear two from a red rose.

Haiku ( hanami)
We watch the blossoms cascade over a high cliff like sweet snowfall a whirlwind of cherry pink kisses enamors crystal blue atmosphere A lover in the sanguine mist offers his heart without hesitation together we cross the Red bridge to Heaven
