"asteria" poems
To shine
she lay before us the night sky in
somnolent waves dusted with
her own chimerical astrology
studded and dimpled with
compressed carbon and
time made material
sweeping her hand across it
like Asteria hanging her mobile
over the cradle of civilization
nodding gently to Zorya
brilliantly conjoined twins spanning
the Slavic night sky
dotting our lives with
multi-faceted tears of joy
like champagne held immobile
bubbles suspended in gold
at unions and births and
fading scrapbooks with worn edges
as a pulsating joy vibrated
trembled
meanwhile
shared
like the wind chime hung near
though not next to
the one disturbed by the breeze
a breeze that bends the path of raindrops
glistening toward new summer meadows
to kiss blades of grass with
a dusting of diamonds and
pearls floating on the wind like dandelion fluff
seeking a relative weight
and a landing spot
with color
to call home
with clarity
to rest easy
a cut above
and
to grow
to bloom
to shimmer
to sparkle
to shine

here lies asteria.
and her falling stars —
they crash faster than they rise
here inside this starless chest —
a foreign place,
a refugee camp —
all leaden lungs and a leaden sky.
here she sleeps
under a blanket of nightfall one might mistake for the golden fleece,
but then again,
alchemy is a long, forgotten lover
all bag of tricks,
and sleight of hand,
all doves and swords
and a fickle heart.
so what of her?
what of a lonely girl?
what of her history and all her scattered bones?
what of a fallen Titaness?
what of this diaspora of all her dying stars?
what of this sepulcher for all her nameless stars?
here lies asteria
with her unbaptized stars —
here, where the dark side of the moon
goes home.
here, where wisterias and howling wolves
and stifled screams
go to die.
here inside this starless chest,
these pallid lips,
this leaden skin of mine.
here lies asteria. here lies her host.
and this is how a black hole sighs.

Origami flowers and paper cranes
cloak my desk and litter the floor,
and one more
for each day that you haven’t been mine.
But it’s fine, I’ve more paper.
So I’ll keep folding, and repeat
step one through step eight. But now
it’s getting late and I can hear you
around the corner.
So in order, I’ll rehearse step eight through
fourteen as a means to bridge
the rift at the ridge of my
mind.
I can’t afford to be alone,
adrift inside.
Because I fear if I weren’t folding this paper,
I might foolishly try to manipulate the
stars
in the deep purple sky. My nights spent
mapping a light dotted guide. Then it’s
inside reverse, crimp,
and crease, until it’s one
perfect piece of art.
I fold, in part, because I know
that without this sheet, I would aim,
in vain, to
crease time and space into pretty paper shapes
where I’d reside in the folds with you.
But I am no Asteria, and the stars
are not mine to hold.
So I continue to fold, and
restate step one through step eight
and I’ll wait for your resonance to
dissipate.
I overheard last week that you need a new hobby
and since you know it can't be me,
consider origami.

Cosmos was filled with beauty
darkness welcomed their light with weal
and so Uranides, Oceanides, Goddesses of old
took a place in the unending void
and sat to thrones made of starlight
giving place to children of their own.
Asteria daughter of Coeus and Phoebe. Goddess of
shooting stars and as one of them fell to the ocean
creating the island of Delos.
Leto sister of Asteria mother of Apollon and Artemis
motherhood and light were her gifts.
Hecate the witch the bearer of torches daughter of Asteria and Perses.
Eurybia master of the seas daughter of Pontus and Gaea herself.
Wife of Crius and mother of Astraeus, Perses and Pallas.
Eurynome the Oceanid a goddess of the sea, daughter of Oceanus and Tethys, mother of the three Charites of grace.
The one of those who nursed Hephestus.
Metis sister of Eurynome goddess of wisdom and deep thought,
mother of Athena, still bearing a child that could
overthrow Zeus himself.
Styx the third sister of Eurynome an Oceanid goddess of
the underworld river. Wife of Pallas and mother
to Zelus,Nike,Kratos and Bia.

This is where I will love you,
from the waves of your storms,
and the echoing wind from the east,
they are no anchorage,
but the way you sound—
it was close to home.
Because truth is darling,
your brokenness is the place
where I am going to stay—
forget the unburning cigars
you left on my lips—
it burnt me off to the
patches of your kiss,
the swirling black holes
you have tug on my chest—
all warm with the rainfall of
chrysanthemum petals.
This is where I will love you,
no sunrises or moonfall—
it does not entangle with
star-written poetry
you took halfway,
the late-night drive
that ends with
laying down on
your chest or
the subway walks
that we ended up
chasing the moon.
darling, this is where I will love you,
from the ends of your fall,
to the last bit of your
sunsets.

Do you like these stars
Last night, I stole them for you
From the moons pocket

i like to think of goddesses.
they're pretty cool if you ask me.
i'm obsessed with three main ones in particular:
nyx- goddess of the night.
selene- goddess of the moon.
asteria- goddess of the stars.
and yes, they are from Greek 'mythology'.
but i don't see anything mythological about them.
so maybe you might think that Asteria riding across the sky with a chariot of the moon is a little, unusual.
and maybe you think that it's weird how there are different beings controlling different things.
perhaps it's the idea that history has told you that all of this ideology is made up.
and you can think that.
but i don't want to.
because i find safety in the fact that i have my full devotion in several beings, all taking charge of all aspects of my life.
it's quite liberating actually.

Adam's ale lay still
She looked up one night at Asteria,
"Oh great one, you are surrounded by ***** friends,
But look at me, I have no one
And I stand here alone"
"Don't worry little one" said Asteria
Appearing from between the stars,
"You'll have visitors in a time
No one dares to open the hatch"
and disappeared leaving behind some fairy dust.
The leaves turned amber
and started to fall
And the snow came
to visit her dear friend Terre,
The mighty blue lost all its hope
All the green beauty was gone
And what was left was blankets of snow
The symbol of rebirth had withered away
And the calm blue with not an ounce of trust
Just then the snow crane cried
Searching for a place to spread its ivory feathers
It looked down at the beautiful sapphire
and landed there in the warmth of its sod
And the legend can be seen even today
When the scarlet fronds start to fall
The snow angel glides through the clouds
and comes to meet the dazzling cerulean

Wanted a written on something a bit more romantic
but I'm so ambiguious, you see right and left handed
so perceive this how you want but I'm sure very few
will underline the message, within this point of view
I saw you standing over by that 'bar' so handsome you did look
but I can't judge you on appearance the message is in the 'astrobook'
This could be a 'Notebook' story or another Great Gatsby
maybe it's in my head, would he see or notice, perhaps he
would think it was a mischeivious preconcived idea
having no clues his self about how laws of attraction would feel
Others had seen him as Lelantos, he was actually Eros
but to me, he was omnipotent in his design, though
I may not be Asteria but I'll catch you when you fall behind
I am no Aphrodite but I could paint you cosmos for eternal time
love you more, deeper, despite what any other 'supernovastars' say
cast them away, burn them out, if they wage war your way,
when they are finished using you and all your lights they burned
I'll wrap and repair what's broken and safely you'll return
to the place in the moonlight above the average planets
a solid rock moon they can't see made of aphanite
[like their understanding of you as small as a nanite\
what am I doing here, he's just to 'out of this worldly'
Is he God or an undefined 'unEarthling'
He must be from another place and moment
Beacause my hearts and stars, just got shot by a bowman
