Feeling wilted like a preened flower
Left upon a waterless grave,
Can’t grow if the roots won’t hold
And I want to drink you in
But I don’t know if I would choke
If I lap your lips for some nectar.

I was weak in winter,
The constant frosts,
Laying over my bones.

Now Spring has come,
With a new warmth I've never known,
Blooming in the flowers of our pear trees.

A new season has brought a new warmth inside,
So I fold into the branches of the cherry trees.
My love, my life, my warmth, my spring.

Even in the daylight,
I can see you when I close my heavy eyes
If I pretend the sun’s warmth feels like your arms
Wrapping around me like a shield,
Warding off the cold umbrage that crawls for my feet
I won’t be dragged under
When you’re out there, waiting.
Sometimes we just need to appreciate the ones we love, no matter the distance.

Drowning in a sea of thoughts
Trying to find the life raft,
I wish to stay afloat in the now,
But I forgot how.
Sometimes it feels like these intrusive negative thoughts/feelings are like a sea swallowing me.

Waning light
How it holds a special place
Glow over these everglades
Fireflies flicker in flight
Strobing stars twinkling from afar
We were always chasing.
