The chill is seeping
Through my sweatsuit
As I walk this
Cold December morning

My cheeks feel icy-
My nose is red.
(Rudolph will not get
The best of me.)

A con-trail rips
Across the sunrise sky -
White slash against
The pink-tinged blue.

An increasing yellow glow
Begins to seep its way
Slowly down the
Jagged mountains.

And the gentle rising
Of the Winter Sun
Gives promises
Of warmth and comfort.

To a world in need of both.

Walking stirs my creative juices.

A world slowly woke from slumber
Stumbled through a sense of Deja Vu.
Free from sheets of sleep and dreams,
Borrowed stitches pay the seams
Of patchwork quilted promises,
Forgotten threads of make believe.
Two eyes, šŸ‘€ see the world for what is,
two handsāœ‹ to pray on bent knees.
Flesh of flesh, blood of my blood,
all those down to earth, raised from mud.

One mouth, šŸ‘„ speaks of my worth,
scent of desire tickles my nose.šŸ‘ƒ
Flesh of flesh, blood of my blood,
flow of words, will be like a flood.

Two feet, šŸ‘£ lead to where I'm meant to be,
one mindĀ Ā to unlock knowledge is key. šŸ”‘
Flesh of flesh, blood of my blood,
guilt tripping yourself, it's never been judged.

One soul, spirit full of vigour,šŸ”„
one heart ā¤ filled to brim of a caregiver.
Flesh of flesh, blood of my blood,
how we were created, knowing we're loved.

We're the images of God.āœØ

The terrain of your loneliness falls under my hands
soft as cinders in a snuffed fire
We have both burned, in our way
and under my breath
Embers ignite, the soft glow
And incandescent heat of our palms, tenderly met
Lanterns in a grey sea
we light as beacons
For our lost ships
calling them
To safe harbor.
when life seems hopeless and despair
has grabbed hold and kept you there
inside the blackest places known
you feel scared and alone

search within, look deep inside
a tiny speck of hope implied
will grow so slowly then collide
with helpless thoughts that try to hide

it shimmers, swirls, burns like fire
picks you up and takes you higher
lifts you from the pits of hell
and suddenly, you can tell

your spirits brighter than the dark
you are a flash; you are a spark
that bathes the world with golden light
a lighthouse shining in the night

with your spirit that has grown
you sense a presence yet unknown
you squint to see, and you're shown
you have never been alone

a field of radiant, brilliant sparks
they glow and pulse, leave their marks
upon your tattered weary soul
they help to make you feel whole

so when the darkness has a grip
around you, helpless feelings slip
the light that's in your soul defends
the sparks are all of us, your friends

The X-Rhymes
thereā€™s no nerve he wonā€™t wrack
when reflected in glass
and heā€™s there looking back
from the windows I pass
turns my calm to unease
with his smell of ill health
heā€™s the walking disease
who's infected himself
and he sits by my wife
eating lunch with my kid
like a part of their life
that is usually hid
and I watch them lean in
on each word he spoke
and he gives me this grin
like it's all a big joke
so I show him some anger
I let it all free
say 'hey doppelgƤnger,
don't doppelgƤng me!'
and I shoo him away
like he has leprosy
not before he can say
'I am you, me and we'
now heā€™s lying in wait
while his power accrues
if I dissociate
then heā€™ll walk in my shoes
so I have to prepare
as heā€™s bound to return
any time, anywhere
that's the first thing you learn.
I remember this happening.

Two souls wrapped together
in seasons and all kinds of weather
here we are these precious three
you me and one we canā€™t see.

Making our path, finding our road,
through our hearts a river flowed
a torrent of love and wild romance.
We tripped, but we danced our dance.

Your bigĀ brown eyes held my gaze
we talked and tried in a thousand ways
to merge as we fought and sought a third one
we drifted and flew from planet to comet to sun.

Where we were going we did not know
we ran fast at first but nowā€¦ we walk slow
our speed or height mattered less to us
than building together a bond of trust.

So weā€™ve yet another adventure ahead.
All those years ago when we wed
we didnā€™t know the privilege weā€™d share
from solid earth to now in mid air.

Weā€™ve smelled frangipani and cactus flower
sung sadness and joy and hymns of power.
From three threads together weā€™ve spun
a beautiful, sturdy cord of one.
To my beautiful wife, our marriage and journey of love with our higher power, as we embark of another adventure through challenges of health and spirit.

The moon
finally burst
into a confetti
of a thousand tattersā€¦

And as the waters
held their breaths,
once playful waves
sink into an unlit nightā€™s
slumberā€¦

And the tides
lost their reason
to visit my shores.
