Zoe Mae Jul 2021
He loves her so much more than she loves him
It's terrifying
He's vulnerable now
Stripped to the bone
He's never felt this alone
She looks at him with apathy
His heart gets yanked around
He'd do anything to make her happy
But she's always looking down
Can't look him square in the eye
Can't set him free, even if she tried
He's so vulnerable now
Immersed in her hair, her scent, her eyes
She can never set him free
Even if she tries

She looks to the sky
Heart filled with angst and sadness
The sun says hello
Zoe Mae Jul 2021
Sitting alone looking out at the grey
Another raining draining dreary day
Thinking bout when we kissed
and the opportunity missed
Because neither of us knew what to say

Lovey dovey ***** me
Thought something was meant to be
Stupid cupid swept right in
And claimed his arrow yet again

Pink wren in my yard
Picks cobwebs from tomatoes
Keeping them bright red

I tried
I'm spent
I give up
I relent

I quit
I'll just stop
I can't stand
I just flop

I'm broke
I'm a mess
I've no *****
I regress

I've failed
I won't fight
I'm lost
I can't write
Zoe Mae Jul 2021
To write is to rip open old wounds
And get plenty of fresh ones too
I've never felt more alone
than when writing a poem
knowing I'll never get through
