When they buried me in the dark, I was frightened.
I didn’t like the taste of earth.
And I was so thirsty.
Some people are no good with plants,
Even the hardiest shrubs
Wither and wilt in their careless hands.
You aren’t one of them.
When no-one else could see,
You took such good care of me.
Water, warmth and love.
These are my needs, but I had no voice
With which to ask; without you
I would have remained inert
A lost life, in the dirt.
See now, how I blossom?
Just a shoot, but I will astound them all
With my beauty, in time.
Thank you for caring for me,
Thank you for helping me to grow.
For my Agent of Fortune, Paul M Chafer.

~

where clear blue sky meets water's deep
his sunbeams reach her waves to tease,
to warm her currents, foaming spray;
dawn to dusk when daylight fades,
till only afterglow remains,
an interlude of celestial stage.

he speaks to her on written sky
and in the mournful sea-bird's cry,
wraps sultry ribbons in her tresses,
his fingers linger in caresses,
and in soothing choreography
he gently stirs her ocean's breeze.

he sends her gifts of palm and dates,
wrapped on waves in salty sprays;
watches her with much delight,
he sings to her each eventide,
love songs with the calling gull,
and rocks her tween the gusts and lulls.

wedded at horizon’s edge,
devotion to her he has pledged,
to have forever and to hold,
his comfort to her storm-tossed soul;
his tender kiss on tear-stained cheek,
where clear blue sky meets water's deep.

post script.

when one gazes
into the vastness
of sea and sky,
of what is from
height to depth
an endless blue,
one cannot but think
of eternal devotion,
of the relationship
between two who have
pledged their forever troth!

as i wonder from what recesses
this one came, i remember…
our 36th wedding anniversary
is fast approaching...
i’ve been thinking of what to gift her
that will make her cry anew.

**thank you to Hello Poetry for
the tremendous honor bestowed
with their designation of this poem as the daily
and to all who have expressed their heartfelt
love and appreciation... your message
came through loud and clear...
there can be no denying it,
i am an incredibly blessed man
because of each of you!
thank you, truly,
from the bottom of my heart!
Oh Humans
When you live a LIFE
What use are you?
What's the use of your birth
To this world?

You destroy nature
Environment, ecology
Every good thing that nature gives you
By your developmental & progress agenda
An intelligent pursuit
All for your happiness..?

When you will die
What are you going to leave behind?
A more polluted
A more corrupt
A world willed with more hate?

What will you do with
All the lies that you've spoken
With all the cheating you did?
People's trust that you've broken
With false accusation & allegations
Destroying innocent lives

You've showed yourself
How much you LOVE love
But when it comes to LOVE
Where did you hide?

When you've to stand for your rights
You are so ferocious,
But when it comes to
Accepting LOVE &/or Loving someone
Why you become such a coward?

What use would be your body?
If you do not use your heart

What use would be your mind?
If it does not learn or understand
That LOVE is better than anything else
You would do in this world

You've made your passion as
Art, music, dance, science
Why you are not passionate about LOVE?

You appreciate LOVE
But you can't LOVE

Oh Humans
When you live a LIFE
What use are you?
What's the use of your birth
To this world?
Cigarettes.
Pills.
Newspaper clippings.
Governmental conspiracy books.
No friends.
No family.
No food.
No water.
Just lying in the dark,
day after day,
Until your heart gave out.

I have documented proof in the form of bills, bank statements, and autopsy reports that this was what the last years of your life were like.

I now lie awake in the same room where I figure you must have spent all of your time,
looking at the ceiling,
wondering if it was the last thing you saw.

I have felt myself become increasingly anti-social, bitter, violent, cold, paranoid, critical and reclusive over the years,
and I know that if I let myself continue to slip away,
I will end up just like you,
in this same room,
staring at the same ceiling,
with my face that looks just like yours,
with nothing to comfort me except for the fading memories of the love I like to think I once felt.

There were ten thousand books in this house the first time I came to see it,
piled high in every room,
ghosts in the ashes between every page...

I'm scared,
but you were the one who taught me to take pride in the land I live on,
so I will turn it into something beautiful,
and I won't let this place be haunted anymore.
This is pretty raw and needs a lot of revision, but I had to get this out.

A New Testament to the tapped out and stymied:
Write.

It's difficult, honestly,
Creating a balance with
unpredictability.
But there's a chorus,
Ideas distilled into this
Cryptic collective claim
Of form and veracity,
An inspired debut,
Opening, following, and continuing it's trajectory
To collect and deliver
Glorious entertainment.

Hint,
It's hidden in plain sight,
The lynchpin:

Desire.
He has slain the Dragon
It lies unmoving before him
The light slowly fading from its emerald eyes

Draped over his weary shoulders
Is the dragon's fiery tongue
Its blistering stranglehold easing as it dies

Dragon blood of the purest blue
Splattered across his scorched chest
His valiant heart still beating at the speed of light

Alongside his sword and scabbard
His heavy shield lies shattered
caught by a single deadly dragontail swipe

Patches of its skin and thorny scales
Have covered his battered arms with scars
A forever present reminder of this epic night

He bows his head in solemn regret
To be standing here victorious
He had to take this magnificent life
Victory always comes at a price, but survival over adversity is always sweet.
For Brian. My husband. My anchor.
Girl with the red hair and the remarkable mind:
You expose me.
You expose the world.
You expose men.
You expose women.
Girl with the red hair and the remarkable mind:
You feed me.
My spirit,
My mind,
My heart,
My soul.
Girl with the red hair and the remarkable mind:
I remember the day I could not find you and thought I lost you to the river.
Girl with the red hair and the remarkable mind:
I remember the day you told me you called the heavens down and surrounded yourself with spirits.
Girl with the red hair and the remarkable mind:
I remember the day the mountains took you and my gladness in sharing you with them.
Girl with the red hair and the remarkable mind:
I remember the phone call in the night.
Your fear,
My fear,
Your disappointment,
My failures.
Girl with the red hair and the remarkable mind:

And power.
Girl with the red hair and the remarkable mind:
Keep changing the world.
My girl with the red hair and the remarkable mind:
My love.
Expose me.
Forgive me.
