There once was a man
Who only thought about things
And never thought that things
Never thought about him.
He clamors to the thought
Of having more things
Without giving his things
A thought.

The sun would rise
The moon would set
The moon would rise
The sun would set
Another day passes
Without a thought
Till all there was left
Was his things.
Open for a critique! this is my first post, and I would like to carry on this theme of writing for my daughter

They say if you love something set it free
If it returns, it’s yours.
If it doesn’t
then it never was meant to be.

But, often times
I wonder What’s worse?
If our time together
Was a blessing or a curse?

Trying to hold on to something
With hope and faith alone.
Or having confirmation that in
your arms, I never belonged.

How could you possibly decide
the lesser evil of those two?
When every road or path I take
Seems to lead back to you?

Should I close my eyes
And flip a coin?
Or go on living life without ever knowing
If the loss of our love I’d mourn?

Well... all the cards in
my hand I’ve played.
For the chance to see
If you’d fly away or by my side you’d stay

It’s a hard fact of life I have learned
Just because you love someone
It doesn’t mean your love
they deserved

Today I set you free my love
To move on and Soar free
To find your hearts desire
Since it simply wasn’t me

One day I imagine you’ll
Reflect upon our love
I hope you’ll wonder
If by chance it had been sent from above
This is for the man I loved but could never truly have.

tell me how you devour people’s hearts
one after an another
tasting their blood, breathing their souls and secrets
you leave a trail of broken people behind you and walk away with ease
on to the next victim

tell me how you live with the weight our sad, pained ghosts inside of you

At the drop of a hat, from sunny to grey
You’re rendered speechless, not a word to say
You hear in the distance of this haze,
“Are you okay?”
To which you mutter a reply
“Yeah… I’m fine.”
But, you know you’re not fine…
Yet, this isn’t the time…
To open up like a book, let them see inside.
So you bite your tongue, you try to hide.
For when they find you… They always find you…
It takes all you have, just to put up a fight.
You see…
I care not for the monsters that lurk in the night…
No… My fear is of a different kind…
I’ve found there is no escape,
From the monsters that lurk in my mind…

Cry till you're dry
O troubled soul
Cry till the eyelids swell
O weary heart.

But do it all in that corner
Where only shadows live
In that corner where your ease belongs

Dump it all .
Then step out with the heart of
a warrior; Head held  high,
For another day unfolds at the death of the darkness,

A day for strength
A new breath to take
Get up and teach those broken wings how to fly again .
In the end, we all need a moment to break down and spill out the sorrow, confusion, exhaustion and all those heavy-laden emotions but after that.....it's time to give the world a wider smile

Look in the mirror and tell me,
Who you are…
Do you see yourself,
Or simply a scar?

What once was full,
Can quickly become hollow…
To know you’re not enough,
Is indeed a hard pill to swallow.

Look in the mirror and tell me,
What do you see…
If I’m not enough for you,
How can I be enough for me?

As I stare blankly at this reflection,
I vaguely feel as if this is someone I should know…
I gaze into my eyes and wonder,
From here where do we go?

They say love is blind…
But, if love is so blind…
Then explain to me, why?
When I look into your eyes,
I can see my entire life…
My future plays in front of me,
Like a movie on a theater screen.
I walk out into the world and see,
Colors I never knew could be

Yet, in that same instance…
An overwhelming fear consumes me,
I see my world leaving me…
Cold and alone in the dark,
Losing myself searching for a spark.
To light the way back to that place,
But I’m drifting aimless in hollow space.

You see…
I found my vision,
When i found you…
But, now that vision has left,
And I have gone blind.
Left to see nothing but a deep dark blue.
