Dr. Suess
By: Robert Herman
(in the style of Dr. Suess)

Theodore “Ted” Suess Geisel,
also known as Dr Suess.

March 2nd, 1904 was not a bore,
For MOTHER Henrietta and      FATHER Theodore.
Behind closed doors.
His mom let out a ROAR!
And dad knew he scored.
For that was the day,
They adored their newborn baby.
A Junior Theodore!
At school,
The most popular!
Ted and his sister.
YES SIR!
HIS SISTER!
Ted has a sister.
A sister named Marnie,
Who has things she likes to do.
Some evenings after supper,
Is sit upstairs in her small room
And use her Thinker-Upper.
Ted learned a thing or two,
From his sister’s thinker-upper.
Ted thunk-thunk his way to school.
Ted attended Darkmouth College
For some learned long-term knowledge.
And wrote for the Jack O’ Lantern
And was acknowledged,
As the first time he ever used Dr. Suess.
Dr. Suess he is.
Dr. Sois he was.
Doctor of rhymes of course he was.
HE WAS! HE WAS! HE WAS!
Dr. Suess he was.
Dr. Sois he is.
Doctor of twisters of course mister.
MISTER! HE IS! HE IS! HE IS!

1927 Ted was in heaven and married
beloved Helen.
When Ted found Helen could not bare children.
He wrote his first piece.
A booked called ABC.
T T t t  What begins with T?
Ted telling timeless tales to tiny toddlers thirsting tea.
Thingama-this, Thingama-that.
He wrote books like Cat in the Hat.
And Sam I am, from Green Eggs N Ham.
I do! I like them Sam I am.
So, I will read them here and there.
Say! I will read them ANYWHERE!
He wrote,
ONE BOOK
TWO BOOKS
READ BOOKS
DREW BOOKS
By the end folks, forty-six, tongue thrilled, fun filled, tongue twister, kid books.
1991 Ted laid to Rest

Little thinks, discipline
ignoring, thinking,
who would know.

A line in thinking,
a thread of thought
who would know.

A stitch, to catch a run,
never saw it coming,
who would know.

Who are people, too.
You have imagined them.
Who knows what every body
thought,
such as you,
fed Ted Geisel, who knew.

Who would know,
if you told them.
I said, I sent you.
I got The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins, for Christmas,
and read it interactively live... and learned a lot.

all a teacher can do is learn and live,
see.
Situationical, long ago, tradition
Teachers tell stories,

with force. Whacks and such.

The reason, once, one time,
the ruler to the knucks
was to loosen a stuck clutch o'

clingers to the edge, who knew what
could be known,
who were
witnesses,taught to see

perceiving sub til ity plowing furrows

through explosions of new math,
new bombs, new moms,

new wars for no reasons, the edge
clinger fingers

let go, just before

a teacher who
they knew learned,
as he lived,
to hear whos
beyond the bubble's edge.

slip

yet no sense

    {clique}
Filter Heinlein through Vonnegut,
squeeze the dregs,

sort each bubble by whos heard.

--Suess, a gain, point ought ever one,

heare that? That is an echo. A bubble pop echo,
in the halls of all imagined worlds

redeemed by children seeing the meaning

wave form on the GB scale storys are sung to.
Waiting is, on the BE scale

the ceiling leaks in the poet's prison,
but his window faces west,
so he is pleased to watch
the wind he claimed

bring rain. And so it goes.
How long do stories live these days?,

Asked the peacemaker, in the distance.
Fun, peacemeeker fun. And a fine OG kush.
If a fish
Could make a wish
for what would
this fish wish ?
a wishing fish
you say, tosh tish
but if you were
a wishing fish
would you wish for
a new dish ?
or a knish ?
what would a fish
do with a dish ?
and how would he
eat a knish ?
but if you knew
a wishing fish
exactly what
would this fish wish?

If you saw
a little bunny
on a tree stump
counting money
would you think
that it was funny
if he used it
to buy honey
to eat outside
while it was sunny
Just where would
that little bunny
get a bag full
of such money
To me that just seems
rather funny

If you saw
a blue canoe
being paddled by
a kangaroo
wearing shoes
size sixty two
Tell me just
what would you do
if there beside
that kangaroo
sat a rather large
and old gnu
I think I would
call the zoo
but, tell me
what it is you'd do

A bunny, fish
and kangaroo
were all out walking
two by two
they were followed
by a large gnu
I think this rather strange
don't you?
I don't know just
what I would do
If I saw walking
two by two
A bunny, fish
and kangaroo
in fact i do not
have a clue
but I know the fish's wish
don't you?

Ich finde Bonbonpapier
tief in meiner Jacken-
tasche, klebrig und
federleicht

Die Stille knistert
genüsslich, und
das Zucker brützelt

Es sind die Worte
und eine Sehnsucht,
die ich auf meiner
Zunge schmecke,
und nicht die Süße
des Bonbons

There are things that are keepable...
and Things that are not...
Things are remembered...
and things are forgot...
things that are free...
and things that are bought...
things that are lost...
and things that are sought...
things that you don't have...
and things that you've got...
things that are fixed...
and things that are shot...
there are things that are cold...
and things that are hot...
There are things that you cook...
in a pan or a ***...
Things that go anywhere...
until they are caught...
Things that are forced...
to stay in one spot...
there are things that are written...
and things that are wrought...
things that are settled...
and things that are fought...
things that are huge...
and things small like a dot...
and this may not be everything...
but it sure is a lot.
Just some fun with rhymes.
