*As I sit watching
boats slowly meander
atop a blue morning glory lake,
white sails tickling soft yawning clouds,
a majestic tree line silhouettes
the distant horizon,
reflecting mirrored images
beyond sandy shores and driftwood
where ripples lazily
make their way to the edge
and dragonflies relax on cattails
swaying in the gentle breeze

I reach into my pocket
pulling out a photograph of you
Your smile still captivates me
as my broken heart aches,
missing you, missing us
realizing that regardless of what
I might see in front of me,
the splendor nature provides
with her ever changing vistas,
the only true beauty in my world
I once again hold sadly
in my hands
A farmhouse in Iowa
Eight people killed with an ax
The killer never caught
These are just the facts

It happened a hundred years ago
On that fateful night
All killed in there beds
didn't put up a fight

They say the place is haunted
Go there if you dare
My wife and I are ghost hunters
Not easy to scare

We decided to spend the night
No one there but us
What would happen next
I'm reluctant to discuss

Voices of children talking
Are some of the things you'll hear
Objects levitating off the floor
Can give you quite a fear

I'm seeing things
I couldn't believe
Are my eyes
Trying to deceive?

Unseen entity
Tugging on my shirt
Starting to get worried
Don't want to get hurt

Everything I told you
Is honest and true
We spent the night alone there
I wonder would you?
Tears the soul...
it is the greatest theft.
It steals the
most valuable
gift of all...

TIME

Just think about it.

Soul Survior
I have to honestly say that
I have a problem with this.
You might think I'm just a dog
But that's where you'd be wrong
If you'd like to see my magic
Then feel free to tag  along
You can watch my master
Take me for a walk
Watch me **** what must be gold
As they bag it up and take it home
Just wondering what goes through dogs minds when people clean up behind them.
You are my foundation
You are my rock
A shoulder to lean on
To whom I can talk

When we are together
I am at peace
I'm your bearing
You are my grease

Twenty five years of bliss
Is what we had
Proud you're my wife
Our daughter her dad

I hope twenty five more years
Is what's in store
When those are done
I'll need twenty five more
Being alone doesn't hurt me
neither does loneliness.
What really hurts is
realising that
I should be
with you
right
now
yet
we are
trapped
in the spokes
of this absurdity,
and karma just seems
happy to see us worlds
apart, dying of nostalgia
What hurts is missing you.
