i used to be
afraid of death
isn't that funny
because now
i like killing myself
i like the feeling of
being torn apart by
other people's opinions
i beg them to tell the truth
even when i know
it's not what i want to hear
tell me
tell me you liked my hair longer
before i cut it short
tell me
tell me i'm too skinny
that i should put on some weight
tell me
tell me you're shocked
tell me i should know these basic things
i want the truth
not a sugar coating
and i don't exactly want it to hurt
but i'm starting to think
it is better than nothing

This one has no food to eat,
This one has a war to beat.
Say! What a lot of people there are.

Some are dead,
Some have no bed,
Some even have no roof over their head.

But why are they
Separated from each other?
I wouldn’t know,
Go ask another.

Some are thin,
Some are tall,
Some are fat,
And some can even be quite small.

From there to here, from here to there.
Trump wants to create walls,
So, we can’t travel anywhere.

To get water,
Some have to travel,
Barefoot, on sharp gravel.
For miles and miles
They have to travel.

White, Black, White, Black.
White, Black, White, Black.
All distinguished from the colour of their back.

Some have two friends,
Some have one,
Some have ten friends,
Some have none.

Where do we come from?
A long, long way.
From a war place,
Come here to be safe.

We see them come,
We see them go.
Some come legally,
Some come by boat.

Some are tall,
And some are short.
We’re all different,
But we’re all human.
Yet, we’re singled out,
Just because we’re men or women.

Why?!
Is it okay to scream and shout?
Lesbian, Straight, Bi or Gay.
Is it good to call someone out?
Did you think it was okay?

Black, White, Old, New,
Gay, Straight, Man, Woman,
Asian, Indian, American, African,
Don’t you realise we’re all human?

Human!
It’s not a reason to be rude,
Just because I am different to you.

Feelin' the morning breeze
Fall's coming says the wind
Smoke's been paying the lease
as the coffee bean aroma spins

With a cigarette in hand
Friday ideal fills the land
We search for our true friend
as the bustle of the day begins
I tell myself you were just a crush
But the way I’m hurting & missing you
It was heartbrokenly more than that

I hope my feelings are not unrequited

sometimes i feel too much
sometimes i feel too little
i wish i could stay in that happy place
that lies right in the middle

when i feel too much
it's a torrent of emotion
a downpour of epic proportion
and i pray for it to end

yet when it does i don't feel enough
i'm numb, frozen, depressed.
I then pray for this to end
and i'd do anything to feel again

so i'm stuck in this happy limbo
never feeling quite right
like goldilocks in the three bear's house
i can't sleep at night

You remind me of Paris

You remind me of the main streets
So bright and fast I'm out of breath
Someplace I never knew I needed

You remind me of the kids who sit and smoke by the river
The ones who only need themselves
Their independence is admirable, but it's their own personal hell

You remind me of the street vendors
The way you demand my attention
No matter how hard I try, I can't look away

You remind me of the museums
So captivating and fascinating
The parts of yourself that you put on display
So dull in comparison to what you keep hidden

You remind me of the cafes
So effortlessly cool
A calm in all of the chaos

You remind me of Paris
Diverse and indescribable
Something you have to love to understand
