i lean against an oak tree in a glade
to watch apollo fall behind the hill,
the sunlight in the west begins to fade,
as evening closes in, a sudden chill.
the nightingale sings songs of yesterday
an arching song that lifts my spirits high,
the robin in the branches drills a lay,
as sunset breathes and reaches to the sky.
the sunlight falls in opal on the ground,
a song of heaven, darkness has no place,
the world is hushed with hardly any sound
and i can sense her passion and her grace
and still the sunlight drifting through the leaves,
holds back the last of day that darkness weaves.

that darkness weaves, that churlish empty sound,
which deafens moments reaching in their gold,
desire or dream, the chains that hold us bound,
the drowning spirit lifts and then is bold.
while nature rests her head upon the land
and bird song fills the avenues of trees,
her vision is ethereal and grand,
a haunting inspiration on the breeze.
i'll echo songs of summer centuries,
that mock and hint their ebony array,
the wind calls out like wild and distant seas
as through the peaceful glade the light of day,
that held its last soft breath of falling light,
in hollow sorrows dreams of quiet night.

the soul finds solace, time enough to rest,
the beauty of the earth is here to see
and where the light still lingers in the west,
i see a glimpse of sweet eternity.
so blindly now the day will sink and fall,
the light that holds the tenderness recedes
and my lost hopes their last enchantment call,
as that last glimpse of daylight leaves the meads.
while questions of the heart flow like a stream,
with tender echoed strings that fall so far,
as cheery revelations clear the dream,
of softly fallen evening's gentle star.
   so with imagination’s dying spark
the day so leaves us here the tranquil dark.
Does anything rhyme with "antidisestablishmentarianism"?

"I didn't think so. Oh well, on to the next idea!"
Their is nothing wrong with anyone

And something wrong with everybody

Like what is blind to a man that can hear color

We can be subjected to all five senses

And still miss the color he hears

Grant the gift of sight to the man so blind
And like a child the grows into the world

And forms an adult

The man realizes

He was better blind

Because now he can see

Without his ears

what pity

The man wished to be in a nutshell

And to his dismay

His wish was graneed

Like the child

who wished for adulthood

If the darkness is your friend,
Embrace it,
Like being blind,
Like society does us,
They would usually fake it,
No weakness being shown,
A lot of names go unknown,
Contending for the one to beat the final of the fitest,
Still can't see,
Well why don't you turn on a lamp,
See what's in front of you,
See the truth,
See the thing that always interest you,
One things for certain , I know uncle Sam will keep an eye on you,
That's why surveillance is a *****,
Don't know what they put in the food,
Keep organizations that will hide you in a ditch,
Make the wrong move and you will be the fool,
Cut the lights on,

Fred
Through many lands and many seas
I come in mourning, brother
To finally bring and finally lay
My gift upon your grave,
And yet I know that gifts won't change
In any way your ashes.
What foul and stupid luck it is
That takes away a brother
And leaves instead this awful rage
And nothing else for me!
But still I'll place this funeral gift
Like gifts we gave our parents.
So take it now, my gift to you,
With tears I cannot quell.
And also keep forever true
My soul and my farewell.
Catullus did not name his poems so they are numbered. This is 101. This is not an exact academic translation. I tried to be true to the feel of the poem by expressing  it in my own way and in the English of today. If you have to translate this poem for a Latin class and you use my version, you will probably fail. It was done because, like Catullus, I had lost a loved one.

So much avarice
Brings existential crisis
Race to fill coffers
Depriving others
Living a deception
Rancor spills over
Darkness has
Never been darker
