Like a moth
blinded by such froth
wished to touch the flame.
Wrapped with swath
Burnt wings dropped the cloth
Time to take the blame...
A response poem to "Jack and Jill" of Ae.

By forty you’d be rich and famous
              So you said
By fifty you’d be a revered opinion maker
With princes and the rich queuing for your ideas
              So you said
By sixty you’d be a modern but erudite oracle
Dispensing flakes of stunning wisdom to all
              So you said
By eighty you’d be a rare phenomenon
Physically strong and mentally sharp beyond belief
              So you said
But who’s this tattered old person in rimless glasses
Begging the indulgence of amused passers-by
And selling rusty memories at two for a dollar?

The five of them were ready.   Below the overcast they flew elegantly in formation.  Armed with weapons that would soon burn away all life on this Planet.  So that they may start all over.  They were not of this world.  But had been living in it for over 300 years.  At last the time had come to completely rid all life here.   They flew above the overcast and into the blue sky.  The sun shined above.  It was there they were met by a strange being.  The sun above was no sun at all.  But the very being that waited for them. His armor glowed and shine like the sun giving the illusion that there were two suns in the sky.  He then spoke.  " I know what you are going to try to do.  These people do not deserve to die like that.  You had a chance with your planet and you chose to destroy it.  You can choose to leave now and find peace elsewhere. Or die in these skies."  One of the five fired the weapon of mass destruction at the sun shining being.  There was a magnificent explosion in the sky that opened a hole in the overcast below.  The explosion then almost seem to vacuum into the sword the being had unsheathed.  The sword glowed all colors with the energy it consumed from the attack.  The being then seem to move like light bouncing off a mirror.  The other four had no idea their companion was already dead and falling back down to the surface. They then watched in horror as their companion seem to turn to ash before hitting the surface. It was then they decided to leave and hope to find peace elsewhere.  S-DIVERS
Watchers of the universe
Pretend me a pen and let
me know when I can write,
pretend me a day
pretend me a night
pretend me the vision to write.

'one two buckle my shoe'
or will you do
it for me?

She says,
'that the boy is a man'
I can
do that too,
'one two buckle my shoe'
or will you?

Pretend me pretending that
this life's never ending
that the
light never fades me away,
pretending the night is the day.

Pretend me the pen
let me write it down
then
we can play.
A lot of things I fear
I'm going to see it through
My blood, sweat, and tears
It ain't going to be in vain
The chaos will end too
Once I let go of the things in the way
So much I'm not proud of
But I'm moving forward now
Time to never look back
I've had enough
I'm going to smile instead of
Always wearing a frown
It's a wonder the way I looked
Before wasn't stuck in place
The world is mostly bleak
But I'm going to make the most of it
Put what matters first in my life
I know the heavens has the key
To dispel the darkness
And in return bring on the sunshine

I want to fall into the darkness
that is within my soul
where its safe from everything
where I'm numb and feel
no more where I'm cold as the night
and cold as winter day
I feel nothing I know what I only need to know
cold as ice and cold as the rain that comes on a night of cold in the summer
cold and lonely like the moon
floating in a endless darkness
safe from everything I hold dear
yet hurts me with lies
and I fall into this darkness
cold cold darkness where
no light can touch me
where the darkness controls me
where I feel my serenity when the darkness is around me
when I feel the cold lonely moons rays on me
I smile and let out a breathe I had been holding
darkness makes me numb
that is what I need now
my tears fall but in the quiet of a dream
oh how I feel the pain of a broken world
darkness holding me, hiding me
numbing darkness within keeping me safe
The darkness was always an escape never an end.

Pretty for a black girl?
Does that mean I’m pretty at all?
When you look at me
Is it only a pigment you see?

Pretty for a black girl?
What does my skin tone
have to do with the beauty
In me?

Pretty for a black girl?
Why is beauty only found if i'm fair?
Is my complexion the first thing you compare?

Pretty for a black girl?
Is that all I am?
Why must I be less than
the rest of them.

Pretty for a black girl?
Is a compliment that's cruel
I don't care what you say,
you're a part of the kingdom I shall rule.

Pretty for a black girl?
Do you say it to be mean?
Regardless, I remain the queen.

I am aware my coiling curls
or my tangled locks
may frighten you too,
that's good, they weren't created to impress you

Pretty for a black girl?
Don’t hate because my flawless color doesn’t need adjustments,
It is you that must alter tones to achieve approval.

Pretty for a black girl?
Approval is something I do not need,
Compliment as you please,
But my beauty grows quicker than you breath

While you flip your hair and tan your skin,
Watch me wink and grin,
because my confidence is the only style that's in.
