  May 2016 Just Me
Ann M Johnson
My Life was filled with different hues of black and white until you added color to my life.
This poem is dedicated to all my Hello Poetry friends and my friends and family near and far away too. I have much gratitude for all of you making my life filled with more beauty!

Derek Leavitt
Alone is as lonely as alone can be. I am alone and as lonely as can be. I wish to be free, I want to be free so please, somebody, come and set me free. Give me joy show me kindness and give me love truthfully. For I am so lonely and how lonely can lonely be? I am alone and alone is all I've ever seen.

The clouds in
the sky
are talented contortionists

Vital beauty
to rival
the most talented goddess

My lungs eat
a meal
of purity and exhale clarity

My eyes ease
at the
sights of great complexity

I'm free to discover
the language
of the wind

Witness the birth
of
new generations
  May 2016 Just Me
A
Wind whistling,
Snow glistening,
We try not to,
But we're all listening.

Loud screams,
Bad dreams,
It's very far,
But close it seems.

Sad day,
Lost our way,
All we can do,
Is simply pray.

Innocence gone,
Life no longer long,
We may not know,
But we're all doing wrong.

Joy lost,
The Holocaust,
We look to see,
Hearts covered in frost.

Wars fought,
Sins taught,
Making mistakes,
Hoping not to be caught.

Not taking blame,
Pushing for fame,
As advanced as we are,
We're still all untamed.

Too much pride,
Needing a guide,
We will deny it,
But behind lies we hide.

Hurting others,
Betraying brother,
Many forgetting,
To appreciate mothers.

Lies are fed,
Filling heart and head,
Through all of these years,
Innocent blood has been shed.

Children abandoned,
Lonely and stranded,
We're all wasting the life
That we have been handed.

Taking from the poor,
We're loving no more,
Fight to be free,
End up starting a war.

People starting fights,
No longer enjoying the sights,
While mere mortals are taking
Our God given rights.

Soldiers killed,
Void can't be filled,
Pay close attention,
For pure souls have been tilled.

Need to find peace,
Work together like geese,
But greatest of all,
The hate needs to cease

Pauline Morris
Her eye's cast down like a beaten pup
She didn't dare bother looking up
She watched the ground, her every step
The anguish over her face just crept
The wind from her lips swept
The agonizing moans as she wept
What woeful sounds of regret
Her closet is bulging where the skeletons are kept

She had years ago, locked it up tight
Really late in the black of night
For even she couldn't stand the sight
She had already paid the price
So she figured she had the right
With those skeletons she could no longer fight

So every day she can be found
With her head firmly pointed down
Eyes forever fixated on the ground
Wearing her darkness like a shroud

It's similar to a pill,
one that's just too
big to swallow.
Yet, you force yourself
to drag it down past your lips.
Like these words that seek
escape from your mind,
you hold them back against
the steal bars your
brain has created.
Willing with every
inch of your body
to not let go and expose
an empty vessel.
There is no stone cold heart
nor a warm blood filled one
just space consumed by the dark.
Emptiness isn't completely
empty as nothing
completely fills a void.
Alcohol and the bliss form drugs
only has a hold for so long
until those same words
press harder against your lips.
Needing to see the light of day.
Wanting to flee this
hole that nothing can fill.
Yearning for the
compassion from
another and yet
you still cannot feel.
Words you want to say fall flat
as emotion that should
accompany them is vacant.
You cannot win this fight
against yourself.
Nor can someone else fight
on your behalf.
Just push on and pray
the sun peaks through clouds,
just enough to breath.
Free flowing thoughts
