Black coffee
running in her system
was the only thing
keeping her warm
as the cold wind
continued to
mercilessly strike against
her body
and its bitter taste
lingering on her taste buds
helped her to mask
the bitterness of memories
that eroded her soul
as she stood there
on her balcony on a
winter eve.
