Tanisha Jackland
I kissed you there
firm and wet.
You swelled in
the midnight hour.
And you swore I stopped time
with long crafted licks,
whispers upon your skin.
As I watched a million
peeks rise from your flesh,
I knew I found your secret spot.
Just a tad bit of naughty for you.

Piano keys and guitar strings.
Even ink stains on my
Fingertips.
I have yet to find a masterpiece
Ever worth your elegance.
There are words in the sky,
They spill when I feel.
What's the big deal about
Young love and pain pills.
I overdose on dreams and
Wake up an addict.
Your presence is lethal,
Your company is tragic.
But I love it and I need it
And I can't even believe it.
I'm not breathing,
These are lungs that
Only work when they're
Needed.
Follow me into your sleep,
And we could make the best art.
Romeo and Juliet never had to
Fall apart...

What to do..
What to do,
This silence of blue hues.
The soundless color intercedes,
and blocks my field of view.

Lonely eyes inverted and blind.
A coating worn so lightly.
Irradiated silence...
It seems to shine so brightly.

Slumbered in solitude, caged in sky.
For months I've been away.
I hear them bellow, a promise of yellow,
yet, regrettably I'll stay.

Submerged and drowning slowly.
Drip by drip inhaled.
Oxygen deprived,
and word wrapped stake impaled.

I'll trip and stumble my way out.
Eventually unleashed.
For now my silenced eyes take lead,
as I slip away from me.

(the native way)

~

inhale... exhale...
the native way;
an exfoliation,
shedding of
her stunning gown,
plunging softly,
down, down, down,
conflagration’s
consummation,
pregnant pause
by nature’s laws,
until...
nativity’s birth
quenches,
spiritual thirst
experiences,
renewal of her
earthen existence!

exhale...
her lines...
fairly breathed;
inhale...
a respite...
well received!
an earthen blessing,
fallen resting;
inhale… exhale…
lulled to lay
in deepest slumber,
rocking, floating,
gentle ‘lighting
‘neath her boughs
of native wonder.
inhale… exhale…
inhale… exhale…
inhale… exhale…
breathe…
receive...
sweetest dreams!

Living in the summer sun
Emitting our life's breath
Autumn comes and you are gone
Falling to your death

"the pen is mightier than the sword"
but "actions speak louder than words
I tried "beating around the bush"
even though my hands held two birds

i've played "the devil's advocate"
and i tried "sitting on the fence"
heard it "straight from the horse's mouth"
the horse made "horse sense"

i'm "letting the cat out of the bag"
i can't "let sleeping dogs lie"
you "barked up the wrong tree"
we will never see "eye to eye"

is there "a method to my madness"?
"your guess is as good as mine"
i'm listening to "the voice of reason"
the one "i heard through the grape vine"

we sweat the small stuff and get upset
ready to deflect what we don't expect
storms spread and we get so wet
bad weather that we'd rather forget

we preset our heads to reject
whatever we don't see as correct
we've all bled and shed tears of regret
it's our necks that we try to protect

when letting two hearts connect
reverence has the better effect
it's the common threads that we neglect
instead of accepting we choose to except

Disconnected the more we’re connected
Our children are affected and feeling neglected
While our rights to privacy are no longer respected
An idea our ancestors never projected
The transgressions of technological progression
An obsession creating social oppression
A Millennial’s iDol, a prized possession

With thyme,

And we call her rosemary
because fear stole the heart
While my mind fathoms her name.

'Sometimes'

I'll call her coral
As I sleep shes sun-bound
Drying eyes.

Even though--
Merely-working
Keeping pastures and paper alive.

These visions; I must see again.
