“Be yourself,”
But then they tell me to change.
“Be unique,”
But then they frown down on all my differences.
“Don’t conform,”
But then they force me to follow their standards.
“Always love yourself,”
But then they call me narcissist and arrogant.
“Be kind,”
But then they tell me to stop being fake.
“Just relax,”
But then they call me lazy.
“Work harder,”
But then they call me too uptight.
“Money can’t buy happiness,”
But then they laugh at me for not being rich.
“Weight doesn’t matter,”
But then they tell me I’m not skinny enough.
“Enjoy being young while you can,”
But then they tell me to grow up.
“It’s okay to be sad,”
But then they tell me other people have it worse.
“Do what you love,”
But then they tell me I’ll never be successful.
“You’ll be okay,”
But then they leave me for someone else.
“It will get better,”
But then they tell me that I’m being overdramatic.
“Be yourself,”
But I no longer know who that is.
This is what I feel still, almost a year and a half later. But I'm still gonna be whoever I ******* want to be... and that's me.

Souls Speak

We think our ego can handle
everything on its own just by
“thinking”

But just by quieting our minds,
we’ll be able to listen to our soul...

“speak volumes”
more than anything.

If someone throws fire at you, “be water”.
Be clear, smooth, calm, gentle...

Fire will only burst into more flames,
but water...

will find its way through.

Poem #11 “Touch of Water”

Kurt Philip Behm
The fire’s gone out
in the last wooden hut
Fresh snow has been falling,
cold hunger abuts

The Red Coats emboldened
in far Germantown
The wind carries stillness,
with death all around

A General stands watch
on the farthest of hills
His heart never waivers,
his anger instills

The firewood gone
but the embers still burn
O’er forests and rivers,
to Paris in turn

The Schuylkill runs quiet,
Lenape scouts have returned
“Our enemy grows fat, Sir,
in taverns that burn”

The outcome awaiting,
its body count high
Where cabins though frozen
—the stars and stripes fly

She rambles a bit when she's excited to see us.
We're brought up to speed with her goings on
In the home that was built around her

As fast as her walker will go, we scurry to the front room
Where bread is cooling on the rack, and her excitement brims
To regale us with the morning's itinerary

It's all done to bring us into her world; to make us a part of it.
It's how she holds us close, making sure we're there with her,
As she may not grasp enough to be there with us...

She doesn't hear so well anymore you see,
But she didn't hear that from us as we smile and nod intently;
Just happy to be there, to be a part of it all
Do you write like a ****** ******
do you write and try not to stutter
does writing seem like a breeze
have you sold your soul to poetry

Have words become an obsession
can you never get them out of your head
have you sold your soul to poetry
I did and now I am the living dead

We all take different paths
but sometimes we encounter changes
This changes affects our detailed plans
Inch by inch we are getting out of range

This changes sometimes make us feel regrets
This changes sometimes makes us upset
This changes bring something that we can't easily forget
This changes moves us forward and takes up everything to the past

In the end we are all left with a memory
A memory that we wish to relive
A memory that brings us relief
A memory that yearns for a much more simpler life
A memory that lingers deep inside
A memory that deep inside we know will never come back
I just got inspired because of the K-drama "Introverted Boss" and its ost haha
