We wear coats of different colors,
stitched by history,
shaped by sun and soil.

We come in endless flavors,
rich and sweet,
bright and bold,
each a taste of something
beautifully unique.

But underneath the coats,
beneath the flavors,
we are all the same—
soft hearts,
warm blood,
souls yearning
to be loved.
Human. Just human.

Different wrappings,
one essence.
One song sung
in many voices.
We are all one.

__

believe me
i know my tears—
too wet,
 too sudden

my eyes a washing line
of memories, regrets
hung me up
  to dry

searching for a loan
of love like a borrowed
heart pinned to a shirt

to find the wear and tear
of time; every memory
is washed,
 wrung out in silence
until it dripped from my eyes—

finally, oh finally,
  this man has found
the time to cry.

Sophia
why do I always have nightmares?
when darkness overtakes the sky
it envelopes my head as well
with fantasies of death and horror

whilst others dreams of daisies
in warm flowing fields,
of waves gently lapping
about the shore

why do I jump from sleep
when my nightmares pop
in a cinematic ******,
whilst others wave goodbye
to the bunnies and mice
as they drift towards walking,
ready for their day ahead

mysterie
sometimes
it isn't enough
to just hug
or have my hand be held
in some sweet way.

i need you to hold me
like you mean it,
as though our souls
could actually
intertwine.

that's when it would
be more than enough.
